Default Rear Shocks

I've recently replaced my rear sway bar end links. I had a thumping noise and it's gotten quieter but hasn't fully gotten rid of it. The shop said I'll need to change my rear shock absorbers.

After looking for about 30 minutes, I keep seeing only coil-overs and no actual shocks. Would getting this solve the issue or not at all? https://www.ebay.com/itm/Street-Coil...CMake%3ANissan

Would anyone be kind enough to point me into the right direction by handing me a link?

Thanks!

Do a search for Bilstein 350Z shocks- the link is too long to post here.

Here's a link to my search for Koni Sport shocks:

https://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_fro...+350z&_sacat=0

Keep in mind you'll get the best results by changing both front and rear shocks at the same time.

So, changing the sway bar endlinks resulted in a change of amplitude to the noise yet the total solution is something else?

Suppose it could be but this sounds like a classic case of “throw parts, see what sticks”.

You need to do (or have done) further diagnosis before chasing it down the parts hole.

I have done a further diagnosis. I've gone to two shops. Both saying the shocks need to be changed. My end links were worn out anyways.

Thanks for the reply.

My buddy is giving me her lowering springs/shocks. Would this be a better alternative than getting regular OEM ones?

She's offering 100$ for everything. The picture is below:

I'll make sure to go slow over everything!

I managed to get someone to drive my car and myself to sit in the trunk. It would appear that both sides do it now. I'll still be replacing them.

Thank you for the reply.

If it's in your budget you may want to consider changing out the fronts also. It will put a smile on your face...

Approach those Eibach Sportline springs with caution. They will put your Z REALLY low, depending on how they settle in your car. Your Z will scrape over any speed bump and you'll bottom out on many potholes. Some insurance policies specifically prohibit lowering springs, so check your policy;

Interesting! Not to derail, but looks like I'll pay some attention to the insurance policy.

EDIT: To OP, that deal is good. However, you fail to mention the mileage wear on your shocks and the shocks replacement in question. I have a feeling that what you'll buy, have some life in them so you won't be due to replace any shocks for another year or two, just hypothetically speaking, But the lowering springs are almost worth that $100 alone. So two-birds-one-stone, if you had plan to go lower, this is great chance. Just understand this.

would you let your enemy put $200 coils on his car? Because, that'd be funny...

Stock shocks run with Sportlines?

The shocks are dead.

Stock shocks “might” be good for 50-75k with stock springs. Overwork them with stiff lowering springs, half life ‘em. Do yourself a favor and put new shocks in with those springs.

Someone told me to change the rear diff bushing, Could this be the causing the rattle/bump noise too?

I'll just be replacing the shocks then, not the springs.

My car is currently at 70k miles. The shocks above are at about 20-30k milage from what I was told.

If I do plan on installing those shocks, I'd be good without the springs right? I can still use the OEM one's I have?

Aside from that, If I were to install these springs would getting a scrape pan from zsports be a good idea? I've been planning on buying one.

Again, I really appreciate everyone helping me out.
Saving a bit of money getting things solved on here rather than a mechanic.

The reason I'm doing it is because I'm buying the springs and shocks for 100$, basically a set for front and back. They're bound to be better than the current one's I have.

In any case, It'll buy me some time to buy new shocks. May be petty of me to focus on other upgrades because your suspension is the most important upgrade but if it gets me buy it'll do.

Thanks for the reply.
