Default Antenna

Recently purchased an 06 GT 350Z Coupe. Not a fan of the antenna. Looking for a much shorter one without sacrificing radio reception. Nowadays, what is the best option? Thank you!

I run the RDX shorty (not shark fin), works and looks great for $18.

RDX antenna is tapered at the bottom and matches up to the stock mounting point nicely. Zero decrease in radio reception.

Yes, the Acura RDX, Honda S2000, or Honda Element shorty antennas are all excellent options. I asked for the Honda S2K antenna from my local Honda dealer and they gave me the Element one, said the P/N was the same. Radio reception has been solid (no noticeable difference) and it looks good (also more sturdy).

I think the battery dying is just a coincidence. Check your headunit and make sure the antenna is still plugged in and secured. Sometimes the antenna cable can come loose from the headunit if not installed properly.
