Default Tires recommendations

I just received my RPF1’s 18x9.5F and 18x10.5R +15 offset on both. Installing akebono brake. Stock height. Thinking of getting 255/40 in front and 275/40 in the rear?

Anyone have any better recommendations for tires to get? Any rubbing issues?

Tire sizes for the wheels is spot on. However, you may end up rolling the rear guards. Of all my wheels up to the point I got 9.5" +15 RPF1s, never had a problem (and I'm lowered -19mm). As soon as I put those on, rub a dub dub, tires rubbed on the tub. Rolled and sealed now, I can fit pretty much anything, even sampling a friend's 305s.... (but wouldn't ever run something that wide.... it'd never get hot enough to do me any good - other than looking cool).

Have you checked clearance of the Sport brakes with your RPF1s? I did so using the cardboard template on my set and I seem to recall it was pretty tight. (But looked like it would probably fit.)

And for recommendations.... are you asking about the tires themselves, e.g., "Yokohama versus Goodyear versus Vredestein"? Depends on your needs and environment. Snow? Lots of wet weather? Dry year 'round? Type of driving?

spot on tire size for that set of wheels. I ran those as a street set up, loved it. As mic mentioned, the caliper/wheel barrel clearance is going to be tight. you might here some grinding here and there due to rocks getting between the caliper and wheel barrel.

You are going to poke out with those offsets. I'm 9.5 +25 front 10 +20 rear with 255/40 f 275/40 r and I'm sitting perfectly flush. I could maybe go a couple more mm in the front but definitely not 10 more. Maybe like 2. Even my rear pokes out a tad. I'm not rubbing but I'm also not lowered

As for tires. I suggest the firestone indy 500. Best tire for the price. I love them. Everyone I ever met who has ever had them loves them. A few guys who used to have the Michelin PSS say they are 9.5/10 of what the Michelins are at half the price. Michelins might get you half a second faster at the track but if you're that worried about time why aren't you buying R-comps? If you do go r compound tire understand that they wear out crazy fast and they will fling rocks all over your car (and the cars behind you) on the street. R comps I know from the drift crowd that they like the federal rs-rr but Idk if they make those in the sizes you want.

Federal rs-rr are actually r comps. The last longer than most though hence why drifters like them. Treadwear ratings are all made up by the manufacturers anyways. They don't mean anything in reality. No one certifies them

No need for R comps, the PSS will do that with rocks, mine are that sticky even after 5 years lol. I also am a Michelin fan. Hey Mic, the 305s just look so damn cool lol!

How many miles do you get off a set of the Michelins? Five years seems like a lot of life. With what kind of driving?

I've never had to switch them, I got them for the first time in 2014, I don't drive a lot since it isn't my daily. I only drive on perfect days which aren't common here in Chicago lol. As for the kind of driving, aggressive is how I'll categorize it . Every time I drive my Z I'm hitting triple digit speeds, that changed last year because of my carbon hood, but once I'm able to get hood pins on there I'll probably be back to it =D.
As it sits I have about 5k miles on them but they look brand new, no rain or snow.
