So i recently blew my 2007 motor and im not sure if i should go with a 2jz or a 1jz. What are your guys thoughts. Ease, budget, time, etc..

Hey Joel - where in Colorado are you?

Are you going to do all the work or pay a shop to do the work?

How much money do you have?
Can you TIG weld?
Do you have an adequate show with a lift? engine hoist? engine stand?
Have you fabricated before? and/or do you have a shop that has all the necessary machines to fabricate?
Is this your daily driver?
How much tuning experience do you have?
How much wiring / building harness do you have?
Do you need to pass emissions with this car?

If you can't answer yes to these questions or show competency in these areas I wouldn't consider anything but a replacement OEM / rebuilt engine. There have been a few success JZ swaps here in the last 5years

mistakes were made. She wasnt treated properly in the past. What can i do now except improve

i was thinking of having my shop do it cuz i dont have the time. It is my daily. Just a 2jz maybe on 20 lbs nothing too crazy until i get a new daily. Its oassed emmisions. I know how to tig weld. Nothing else that u listed i think

Wont happen in that range, my buddy did ls2 swap with us doing a majority of the work and he was at $11-13 if I remember.

$4 to $8k is a good start but builds cost twice as much and take twice as long as you expect.

If a shop is doing it plan on $20k when its all said and done.

Knowing Colorado costs, $8K is not enough to "go big". I agree with the other opinions expressed here and if OP wants to keep it as a DD, it's better to buy a rebuilt VQ shortblock, replace the CSC and have the shop swap the engine. Otherwise, this is another "balla on a budget" thread. How many miles on this Z?

"Go big" but you are going down in displacement? Nonsense, rebuild the bottom end, throw some cams in there and tune it. Once it's no longer a DD you can go for boost.
