Default De vs hr

Hi, I'm completely new to the 350z community and I'm am looking to buy one. My difficulty is deciding between the DE and HR. I have a few questions, 1. Which one can more of a beating for lots of races, drifting around, and track days. 2. Which one is better for modding such as air intake, exhaust system, turbo/supercharger. And finally 3. Which one is going to last longer as far as being driven hard, miles, and transmission? Thank you so much! Please remember I have no clue and want to learn. I am 19 so keep that in mind with my speed demon, drift everything, be loud phase.

Compared to the DE, the HR burns less oil, has more HP, and has a better transmission that can take a beating.
If you want more tuning opportunities, options, and fine fine tuning, the DE is better with it.
Most people choose the DE motor because of cost and availability of parts. They can both take beatings but the DE is all around cheaper.
From what I hear though, don't go with the rev-up.
The most important question here is, will this be daily driven or a weekend warrior?

One item not mentioned is the HR tends to run hotter than the DE. When that happens the ECM intervenes by pulling timing and if temps go beyond 240 deg F, you may go into limp mode for circuit racing. Be sure to take some professional driving lessons to help you learn how to properly drive the Z.

Depending on where you are in Missouri, there are at least 3 Z Clubs that might be of some help. Gateway Z Club is in the St Louis area, Ozarks Z Club is in Springfield and Mid Mo Z Club is in Columbia.

thank you, this community is so much more helpful and friendly with their information I can tell. I'm coming from the honda community and sheesh was it rough over there lol.

Mileage and condition are just as important as the engine type for a veteran car like the 350Z I think, particularly if it's going to have a hard life.

in your opinion, hows the oil consumption and if you had a comparison between all 3 motors would you still pick revup over de and hr?

I can only speak for my RevUp. Oil consumption is little. I do replace my oil every 3-4 track days so it really doesn't have thousands of miles on one oil change.

Also, IMO... To keep a motor safe for longevity, leave it stock. Don't mod it.

The only "mod" I did in the motor department was adding test pipes.
