Pulling the motor
Just an fwi to anyone who decides to take on pulling the motor themselves you dont have to disconnect the entire wiring harness from the motor whenever pulling it there are 3 electrical clips on the inside underneath the passenger side dash and then the alternator and starter directly connect to the battery with their own wire then 2 chassis grounds one on the passenger side frame rail the other on the front driver side and then the cat O2 sensors. Once those are all removed you should be good to go wiring harness wise if pulling the tranny and motor at the same time.

The problem for many is the reason they are pulling their VQs in the first place. Serious damage to the short block or heads still require removal of the wiring harness (and ancillary equipment) to easily access components. Disassembly of the front of the Z (bumper, radiator and hood) make pulling the engine/tranny much easier.
Can you even get the engine out the top without pulling the radiator support? I would imagine if it's possible it would be much harder. I just pulled mine due to good ole fashion rod knock.
I'm about to tackle pulling my motor as well. Is there a walkthrough DIY on here anywhere? I plan to do some hunting. My intent is to pull core support and hood off. Not sure if I should or shouldn't pull with the trans attached or not. I figure it might be easier to deal with to pull it all in one go.
I am installing Z1 poly motor mounts, have to lift the engine about 2 inches, looks like i have to disconnect a/c lines from the clips on the inner fender.I have no intake, fuel, headers or transmission currently installed.Am i missing anything?I will be using a hoist.

I would double check to make sure the coolant hoses powersteering hoses any vacuum hoses the chassis ground points (all I can think of off the top of my head) to make sure that they got enough slack to be pulled up that far

I might have lifter the engine 1/2 inch to install mine
