Default Yet another convertible top issue

2004 Convertible touring 350Z. Automatic and I love it. Recently when I attempt to lower the convertible top it stops mid cycle. However! I discovered that if I pulse push the lower button, the top will eventually retract to its housing properly.

Raising the top is not an issue. It raises with one continuous push of the button.

I can live with this but I fear that one day the on and off action of my lower button may cease. Mechanically the top itself seems smooth.

Thank you in advance for any advice.
George

Mine periodically does the same thing as well. It seems to be most prevalent after the cold season when I haven't dropped it for a while and it's the first time going down for the year when it warms up. My guess is that it's one or more of those pressure sensitive sensors/switches that may be sticking. It doesn't bother me too much so I haven't tried to figure it out.

Thank you for the response.

I appreciate the interest. Maybe I will just get new tires and not worry about the top.

When do you notice it? Does it do that all the time or just after an extended period of time when it hasn't been lowered for a while?

It tends to sit for a while especially in inclement weather so I must admit it has been a while since I lowered the top. Good question. I will attempt to lower it and raise it more often. I am afraid of getting it stuck so I have not lowered the top very often over the past year.

Thank you

George

I have a 2004 roadster and I put it up for the winter, going about 5 months without lowering the roof, and I have no problems with lowering/raising the roof when I get it out of storage.

I had this same issue. After lots of searching on here I found there is an elastic type strap on the drive and passenger side between the two bars. After replacing those straps I have no more issues unless I leave her out side in 20 degree weather or less.

Good to know! I've got some of those elastic straps that I plan on installing once the weather gets better since I'm sure mine are worn out. This makes sense.

I saw a video about the elastics. I am on it.

Thank you

I bought 2 arm band holder for my phone at dollar tree. Took elastic straps off and used them. They worked perfect and gave me adjustability so I could fine tune it.

This! I had the same issue with mine when I bought it, probably saw the same video on youtube that you did. I bought some cheap velcro elastic straps from walmart and PRESTO CHANGE-O! Now I'm top down bumpin Cindy Lauper
