My car's interior center parts like cubby door, factory radio, gauges, mostly everything that's black is soft. I mean I can scratch the black finish off all the way to the plastic with my fingernail! Anyone else ever run into this? The door parts were like that too but I stripped them with acetone (very touchy) and sanded the acetone damage off and painted them. The problem with the center parts is that weird dimpled finish it has. Someone advise me please...............-Curtis.

 

Z33 interior panels are not typically "soft" and certainly not "gooey". If yours have become that degraded, I'd suggest hitting up your local salvage yard and finding a new IP and waterfall center console.

The soft coat sucks, solutions are strip then paint, hydrodip, wrap in carbon, or keep buying new ones when they get bad (very expensive lol) I think I'm on my 3rd waterfall

 

So you have run into the same thing?

 

my door handle were bad, i replaced with oe from conceptz, and the new ones felt different. not as rubbery

 

What year is your car? More common in the later cars (‘06+) but all Z interiors are somewhat prone to damage. The “chalkier” interiors just suck. Replaced both door switch finishers before I sold my ‘08 (with <40k on it!)

 

Mine is an '06, just never saw anything like it. At first I thought someone had sprayed something on it or something, but anyplace it's not scratched up it is a perfect finish, just super soft. I need to find something that will cut it off there without damaging plastic but as of yet I have not figured out that part yet.,

Yup, I'd try a brush of some kind. The older the worse it gets.
One thing I did forget to mention was that there are Alcantara covers on ebay

 

03-05 door barrels have a slightly metallic finish that isn't rubberized. I'm rocking those in my 06 panels.

 

Wound up just sanding it all off as good as I could and painting parts, turned out purdy good I guess. Good enough for me anyways.

My 2006 model has had the same paint issue practically since day one when I purchased the car. Nissan replaced the door handles when the car was a couple years old. Now they tell me to have someone repaint the interior. There is a threat on how to repaint the waterfall and the appropriate Duplicolor color that matches the original paint.

You did the right thing there is a flat interior paint you can get at any auto parts store just make sure it's a good quality brand name and lightly sand the surface so the paint will stick and last I've done this to my waterfall panels and it turned out better than expected other expensive choice is buy them brand new from ConceptZperformance!

 

That's what I've done 3 times over 10 years, for the waterfall at least. Handles are carbon now
