I thought this article from Hagerty was an interesting read. It looks like the "high-school/college kid fire sale price" days of the 350Z are going to be numbered. For those of you still holding onto a clean 350Z, don't let it go yet.
Cheers!

I saw an article stating in the US that the used car market has inflated by nearly 25% on average. I'm not sure if it's strictly for 350Z. Have you seen the prices on the MX-5 nowadays? Insane.

Not just Z cars. In addition to all the cars going up, parts as well. Take for example, wheels. I used to buy/sell Volks, Rays, Nismo Rays, etc at a rate of around 6-8 sets a year. Now, same wheels are ridiculously priced because there's very few out there. I put the blame on pandemic causing people to hold on to their stuff (for one reason or another). Haven't swapped, let alone bought any tires/wheels in a couple of years because of the ridiculous prices. Just saw a set of Sport Z34 wheels asking $3400. Hahahahahahaha..... not. Paid $800 for those just a couple years ago. Glad I had my wheel whoring fun already.
On that note, shopping for project Z cars (S30 variants).... psh, even cars needing full body/paint/mechanicals are $5k. Yeah, no, I'll stick to my other hobbies for a while...

Here in Ukraine I see many people hunting for 350z often with no luck - these cars suddenly became hard to find in good condition…

I've got enough $$$$ in my 06ZR to make a down payment on a house. I'll never get it out, so never selling.

Common misconception, adding overpriced aftermarket parts(especially “jdm” attached) does nothing to add value. The used car market spike typically reflects the demand for the cars. Of course high mechanical wear always from miles ****s us on resale. If you never drive it, the value will be higher.

You hear people all the time saying stuff like I know where a 2005 350z with 65,000 miles great shape unmodified everything stock never involved in racing etc for $6000. In Alabama and Florida these type deals do not exist. That car I listed in the Florida panhandle Destin area is a $10,000 or more car. A 2004 touring model completely stock, everything factory, new Michelins, 54,000 miles sold for $13,200 super nice car. Car was based out of Fort Walton Beach sold by an individual. Any car under 100,000 and in good shape never raced is at least a 9,000 car right now. Sure you can find a rough car some kid has beat on with 180,000 for 6K but it is a pile of crap. When looking at these cars look under the hood, in the fender wells, and the plastic shields under the car on the sides if it still has all the clips it is good to go if it missing several there is an issue. Kids love taking these cars apart and never putting them back together. If a kid removes anything in the interior those parts are gone forever.

Asking prices on Z8s are holding well.
