Default P1078 code- remains after replacing the sensor

2006 Touring 6speed with 115k miles…just had the clutch and flywheel replaced and now am throwing the 1078 code(Exhaust Valve Timing Control Position Sensor Bank 1 Circuit.)

car seems to be running fine with no other lights - YouTube suggests hard to start/ bad idle and possible stalling….. but I am not experiencing any of that.

maybe someone bumped or loosened/unplugged it- but if so wouldn’t I be experiencing all the ugly stuff besides the SEL ?

so……update….

Replaced the sensor hoping for a quick and easy fix- still getting the same SEL and code🤯

not sure where to go from here?

Default

Since the trans was separated from engine, I would look for a pinched/cut wire.
