Supercharging for track use... most reliable option?
My mechanic is telling me to give up on FI for track use because it just won't hold up to the abuse. He's probably right.
BUT if you had a gun to your head and had to bolt something on and run it at the track, what would it be? Any milder options that could fit the bill?

The general consensus of the VQ35DE/HR is that the stock block can handle up to 500hp, there's probably some variance with that number depending on DE, Revup DE, and HR revisions. The Stillen twin roots kit is the most mild option, however I think they discontinued it for the DE. I personally prefer the Vortech options because of the tunability/support, but also because it's the only CARB legal FI kit still produced/available for the Z33 in the state of CA. If you're conservative with the boost/tune then I think you would do fine for track use. That being said, this is assuming you have taken care of all the track supporting mods 1st. Chief among these mods would be external oil cooler, larger all aluminum radiator, and brakes (DOT4 fluid is a must).
If you haven't already track prepped the car, focus on that 1st and get some track time in with it. As cobra mentioned, you should focus on finding your limits with the vehicle before upping the power.
Cheers!
