Default gas gougers

Not really too much to say here just wanted to get some general thoughts across the nation from people about the notorius gas hikes that are and will be taking place over the next week or so.

here in ohio its not all that bad yet, i can still get the premium for about 1.75/gal if I catch it on the "sale days" at BP. I saw an article on cnn.com that summarized the gas prices across the nation and really feel for you guys in the cali region and even hawaii. paying upwards of 2.50/gal. jeez. thank god these rockets we drive are pretty fuel efficient when compared to other sports performance cars.

I blame the news, they get on the TV and say gas prices are rising and all these gas stations immediately run out and jack the prices up. It's not like the gas at the station was made when the prices of crude went up.

hovering a bit over $2 in WA. On a side note, I never fill up my tank, but at most half a tank. This helps keep fuel weight and consumption down.

You wanna see evil gas prices? Our local news here in LA recently reported that a Shell station in Corona was charging $3.59/gallon for 91 octane.

However, that only lasted about half a day, and they changed the price back to a reasonable $2.49.

Prices are said to hit $3+ a galon by spring here in Reno, NV. Right now it's about $2.25 for 91. CRAZY!

I bet you drop the air pressure in your tires to keep weight down also right?

Exactly what is funny about half a tank? gasoline weights 5.6 pounds/gallon. with a 20 gallon capacity, you do the math. I know many others that attempt to lighten the Z as much as possible and this is one way.

What I want to know is how the price of gas can rise for supply already in the pipeline. How can the price of a barrel of crude immediately impact the cost of the gallon of refined gas I buy?

Yeah, It's funny how gas prices increase the day that opec cuts production, but when supply increases, they just sort of hang around for awhile, then they drop about 1 cent per week.

We've gotta find a way around opec, talk about a monopoly!

And supposedly, they only control about 1/2 the oil!

Lastly, it's about 1.99 in Miami/Ft. Lauderdale for 93 octane.
Which wouldn't be so bad if my wife's Murano got more than 17 miles to the gallon. (22 in my Z, 17 in the murano? what gives?)
