A former college class mate Hating on MY Z

Not that it makes it look any better, it's still a piece of turd WITH rear power windows.

I met ONE SRT-4 owner down here in Miami, 21 year old guy, i think the only NON-ARROGANT SRT4 owner, i struck up a conversation at the stop light, told him his car was pretty fast and all (i like complimenting people). He was like, yeah, but i love you car, i wish i could afford it etc, etc.
That's it.

My friend was debating between the STi and the EVO8. We took my Z to all the test drives, and noticed a Dodge dealership on the way. So, needless to say, we test drive the NEON just for fun(I refuse to call it an SRT-4). Was it pretty fast? Yes. That's all it is. We looked under the hood, listened to the sound of it, took note of the interior and exterior looks/quality, and breaking performance. The first thing we said when we left the dealership was "wow, that was such a piece of ****". It might as well have been a soapbox with a turbo.
I think alot of people forget that the Z is a track car. Its suspension is set up for the track, not the drag strip. That's one reason we get so much wheel hop on launches (that and some people need to learn how to feather the clutch
) How does the NEON perform on the track? I'm guessing it wouldn't stand a chance. I bet the NEON is a big hit in the drifting crowd *cough

To further justify my opinion (and to not sound like a "hater"), I don't hate the NEON because it can give the Z a run for its money in a sraight line. I hate the NEON because it exudes cheapness. I used to own an RSX-S. It had MSRP was 23,600, which is only a couple grand more than the NEON. Although RSX-S is significantly slower than the NEON, it is a MUCH higher quality car for the money. Sharp looking on the inside and outside, superior engineering, etc. Also, the sound of i-VTEC blows away the sound of the NEON. I miss my RSX-S

I hate to say it but you were right. After careful reconsideration the Neon SRT is not all that. I hate muscle cars and what they stand for. The SRT is a muscle car, all power no cornering, no handling, just power. Its so many alternatives to the SRT. For instance I can take a Civic SI ($15k) and get a Greddy turbo kit and produce the same numbers as the Neon. I would actually get more respect because its not a Neon. With car, install, and turbo kit, I'm looking at 20k tops and that's still cheaper than the Neon. And I'm only running 8 LBS of boost.
And another point I want to make is that rotary engines aren't known to make substantial increases in horsepower. That's why the hp is way higher than the torque on the RX-8. Only with a turbo can rotary's make substantial torque gains like with the RX-7. That's why I want to see what the Mazdaspeed RX-8 is gonna come with. Right now the Z is pretty much on top of the charts mainly due to price, power, & styling. But always first is the Evo VIII, just because it can keep up with a Ferrari with ease and outcorner a Porsche GT2 (Not a 911, the super Porsche). I give it to your boys at Mitsubishi, they made a daggone good car for once. I just wish they would have bought the Galant VR4 (latest body with V6 twin turbo only available in Japan) over here. Why we get stuck with the Automatic only Galant is a big mystery to me.
Holla
Well guys I guess he finally saw the light. Ha, ha, Ha. I stop replying to his emails maybe that was one of the reasons.

Hold the presses. I call the Z a sports car. Its all around not just a straight line racer. It handles well (most muscle cars handle terrible). Its not 5 inches from the ground, and muscle usually means V8. Right now you have muscle rice. So lets just say, the 350Z is a sports car. When compared to other cars in its class, it could be noted as the muscle of the bunch because it packs the most power (for now).
Have you seen the Mazdaspeed Miata? I saw one yesterday and that thing is nice, nice wheels, nice factory kit, just small and nice. If I could I would buy the Lotus Elise when it comes over here. That thing is a pocket rocket. Got the Celica GTS 180hp engine (made by Yamaha not Toyota by the way) and it weighs 2000lbs. $39000 is the start price and that is not bad considering what your getting. One of the fastest cars in America, and although I hate to say it, this car would lay the smack down on the EVO VIII or MR
He's showing much more respect here. I still see some undercover jabbs here and there.
