Angry Paint Chip Repair Advise

I have had my Z a week and found my first paint chip.

Please advise on the proper way to touch up a small chip. My past attempts have fallen short of crappy.
Any help would be appreciated.

I have read about the chipping problems but wasn't ready for it to start this quickly!!!!!

If you're talking about a small chip on the front bumper (I advise this way for the front bumper only), then you could try this: buy a touchup paint bottle from a Nissan dealer (I got mine from Courtesy) and apply paint to just the chip. Then use a paper towel and dab it once on the fresh paint to remove most of it leaving a thin coat on the exposed primer/bumper. If you want, you can repeat this everytime it dries, but I just do it once since you can't tell on the front bumper.

where is the chip ? you can hit it with touch up paint.

The paint on the Z sucks!

Get a clear bra or your gonna have a bumper that looks like it was sand blasted.

The chip is actually about 3" below the door handle on the passenger side. I initially thought my passenger opened the door and hit something but there are no scratches or dings around it.

I am trying to find a dealer in the St. Louis area for a clear bra. The only one I have found is the same guy that tinted my windows. I doubt he has a whole lot of experience putting on clear bra's since they just began to offer them. They are charging $550.00 for the Z, how does that compare to other installs?

Hey, Im in STL too! Anyway, $550 for a clear bra is pretty standard. I didnt get one and my bumper looks pretty worn, but not bad. I figured, for the price of a clear bra, I can have the front bumper repainted.

Well I wasn't careful a couple of times and got some scratches on the doors that were pretty bad and like you, I have had bad luck using touch up paint as I usually end up with globs so I went to the body shop that fixed my rear end and they did it for my.

I watched and he basically took the touch up paint and carefully applied three coats on the scratches and then told me to come back a couple of days later so the paint would dry and then he wet sanded the area, polished it and it looks pretty good, probably lost some clearcoat but on the doors I wasn;t too worried and it wasn't a huge area, now I just have to Zaino.

From about 2 feet you can't tell, I am happy as other option was painting the door. Sorry, don't have price info as he did it for free as a favor.

I had a very similar thing happen on my SB Z. The paint right under the lock, on the driver's side door, is chipping. It's probably 1/8 inch in diameter, but my car is brand new. How the hell would it chip there???

Depends on the parts that are covered,

I just have the fromt bumper and headlights. that was 300 out the door.

To add the hood piece it was about 200 more.

I have the same problem where the pain chips easily. I'm considering going to the local body shop and have them add a few coats of clear coat?

Woudn't that help with the severe paint chipping?

Has anyone tried this?

How much is clearbra?

you can try Langka (the blob remover) with touch up paint which would make it nicer looking. But it will prob still be noticable
