hope nothing gets in your way
well i hope the road is a really good one, because going that speed even the slightest wobble, or pot hole slight mistake and your going to be rolling your car like that one video of the Z that just went way to fast and ended up destroyed. that one was driven by a pro driver too. so go ahead raise my insurance preimum that much more, the more people that destory there Z's the worse off it will be for any of us with then still in tact. 1 more year and then my rates will drop to earth, OHH i can't wait.

Let me add to this, I'm telling you not to do it.
If you do choose to do it, make sure you're going to use a long straight stretch of road where no oncoming traffic can be harmed. If your car loses control and you run head on in to traffic, I will personally make take the next flight to LA to spit on your grave.

First off if you have to ask if it's dangerous to drive 160, you should'nt be driving a car at freeway speeds, alone tripple digits. I'm assuming you simply meant "Would you do it"? No I would'nt. Not in a stock Z. If i'm going to roll one at 150mph+, i'm going to do it in one prepared from the ground up to do just that. It's going to be on a track, and i'll be suited up for it. I've had mine to 135 new in the first 5,000 miles, pushing the stock tire beyond that gets mentally scary, but the car handles real nice up there.
The higher your speed, the greater your skill level needs to be, and the more devistation there will be when anything goes less then perfect.
Lastly, I don't think the car will do it. It's factory capped at 156. You may have one that will hit 160 on a good day in the right conditions, you may have a hard time getting over low 150's.
In any event, take it serious, let your judgment rule your fun over 100 and you'll have fun as a byproduct.
Enjoy your car, be safe, be smart.

Wait, you're the 16 year-old driving around in Mom's graduation present, right! Hell yeah, do it, prove me right. I'm sure pictures of your carcas will end up on the forum eventually, and then you will have proved me right.....DO IT! DO IT! DO IT!
Ok, on a serious note, if you feel the need to drive fast, don't just pick a straight line and put your right foot on the floor. The Z is an amazing car, so I say round up a couple hundred bucks and make your way to a track day or performance driving school. Turning at high speed is way more fun that just going in a straight line, and since you get an instructor, it's safer..
Be safe, and have fun.
Yes, I'm a dick, but at least I care.

The car is not factory capped at all. Or at least mine isn't(I had one of the 1st to come out). If you have the road and the wish, mine at least has gone 164 - bone stock.
Haven;t gone that fast since I did any mods. Just one of those wild hair days.

i wouldnt reccomend it but ive done 142 and it felt fine. WHere are all those guys that have maxed out like they said on the "how fast has your Z gone" threads. I thought there would be some more pro opinions. anywho, its your car and your life as long as theres no one else around, what the hell. if the car couldnt safely handle 156 in a decently safe environment it wouldnt be able to go that fast, correct?

Uhm, yeah. Driving on public roads in general is dangerous. Triple digits on public roads just increases your odds of disaster.
YOU decide what YOU think YOU should do, and take responsibility for your actions.
I'm still breaking mine in... I have about 400 miles to go before I see what mine will do. I've had it up to 120 in 6th and I felt completely safe... If you really need to ask our opinions if doing 160 on public roads is dangerous... maybe you shouldnt do it....
ps... the car *was* designed to haul ***, or else it wouldnt. (sounds like a silly statement, I know)...
Good luck & be safe....

Put it this way.
If you feel you car experienced at handling a car at 160mph, which in my opinion should never be pushed to that limit (Porsche GT2, GT3 can easily), then go for it. But remember at 160mph, you must keep the wheel perfectly straight. You turn it even slightly, you'll spin. You hit a rock, you're screwed. IF anything happens, you are screwed.
If you are willing to risk this for a rush, then go for it. I don't mean that to sound rude at all.. honestly, if you feel you are experienced and can handle it, do it.
Just make sure you put on your seat belt

The 350 can handle nicely on wide freeway sweeping turns at 140. I was surprised how stable it was. Much more stable than my IS300 was at 140 with full TRD suspension. Then again it was alot easier for the Z to get to 140 (a little less than 145).

I vote "nay".
Even if I had:
a full roll cage, harness/ racing seats, helmet, suit and full suspension mods, aero parts for stability...
I still wouldn't do this for more than a second. I can't imagine someone actually pushing their stock Z to maintain this kind of speed.
MAybe...just MAAAAYBE on a clean highspeed track (dusted of all particles) but no way on public roads. Above 150 and your Z will be flying (i mean literally floating across the ground). Anything, be it a pothole, gust of wind, having to scratch your @ss and it's tuck and roll!
Good luck!

I have done it several times. We have an abandoned parkway near us, about 5 miles of nothing, 2 lanes in each direction, grass on between and on both sides. There are some slight curves along the parkway, but it is basically straight the whole way.
The fastest I have ever gotten the car is 162, but I have video of 157. Actually, in the video you can see 156, but I say something about 157. We had to shut it down at that point to make a turn
I did that in a car which was stock as far as handling goes (had a few engine mods). That video was made in a Touring model that didn't even have the aero package. Even at 155-160 the Z handles like a dream. No rattles, shakes, or other inconsistencies so to speak. With the car as smooth as it is at 160, I know it is capable of at least 170 if it can be deregulated.
If you're going to tell me I'm insane for doing that, forget it. I am not an expert, but I'm not a moron either. If I didn't feel confident driving to that speed I wouldn't.
Here's the video I mentioned...taken several months ago with a friend's BMW.
