but then again, seems Im in the minority... I use the Z as a daily driver and see 2weeks on average to a tank of gas. 3 days... naw, Id have to average 15mpg for 75miles a day. that just doesnt seem possible. I get 20mpg and only do about 10miles per day.

I use my Z also as a daily driver...(25,000 miles last year). I drive 85 miles EACH DIRECTION to work.

I budget for my fuel. One less star bucks coffee per day and I have the extra $3.00 per tank the gas increases are costing me. Really guys, it's NOT that bad.

My Winter beater is a Jeep Cherokee, my Z gets better gas milage. (I get 25 mpg in the Z...)

I am weird. I actually like filling up my cars. Feels like I am feeding my baby.

Wow, that's good! I have traffic (there is no traffic like CA traffic ) to deal with, so if I can pull 23 mpg then I am doing pretty good. But since the Z takes premium, the fill-ups are a lot more. My beater takes 87 and 87 pricing deals are easier to find than with premium prices

I usually get around 23-24 average, and I'm confused about this as well. If you broke the bank that much, so that you can't afford teh extra 2 bucks when you go to the pump, then you shoudln't be driving a Z in the first place. Go buy a civic hybrid, and you won't have anything to worry about.

As for trading in a new car, you're definately losing a hell of a lot more money doing that. I've owned my Z for almost a year, and put 18K miles on it.

18K miles = roughly 750 gallons

The cheapest I've ever paid for premium was about 1.60 which would have costed me 1200 total assumign it was that price forever.

If the gas prices had been 3 bucks/gallon for the whole time, it would have costed me about a grand more.

So, even if the gas prices had been up to 3 forever, I'm still only losing 1000 on gas. Compare that to the 5+K you'll likely lose trading in, as well as the added cost of driving something like a civic instead of a Z (priceless i tell you!), and you're just shooting yourself in the foot.

You guys give Bush far too much credit, you really think he controls the production decisions of OPEC? Come on. Maybe his family also controlled Jimmy Carter and the Iranians in '79 when gas was being RATIONED!

If you really care about the issue, do a little research about the hubbert curve. You'll find out that opec just may be cutting production because they CAN'T produce anymore. Most of the large wells have been in service for 40+ years and they are running out. If there is one thing that democrats and republicans agree on, it is that the worlds CHEAP oil supply is running out. Michael Moorer and Bush's top aides agree on this issue.

And we're not "lucky" that we have cheaper gas than europe, japan, etc. We won't stand for 60% tax on gas. You guys live in democracies too. You can raise hell and change your tax policy if you want. Speaking of gas taxes, who did vote to increase taxes on gas........someone whose wife is worth $600 million maybe......

I'm with Ares....."PAY TO PLAY"

I live in NYC and do about 80% city driving. I average between 12-13 mpg due to my very spirited driving. Usually I go through a tank in 4-5 days.

I find myself driving a bit less (less frequent middel of the night joy rides) but there is no way in hell that I'm going to change my driving style! C'Mon people you got a Z not a Camry. Enjoy it cause you only live once.

Heh heh. It's almost impossible to believe the above statement could be true about *anything*. (But it is in this context!)

You guys really have it easy down there, I live in Montreal (Canada)

Today gas was 99.9 cents/ litre or $3.78/ gallon

Cost me $60.00 to fill the Z with regular gas.

94 oct gas is like $1.07/ litre which is like $4.05

Wait, "regular" gas? What octane is that? Down here, regular usually means 87 octane. I'm not sure I'd want to put that in the Z.
