Default Value of VDC

I am considering getting a 350z from the USA, since I can get a lower model (only a Touring is available in Canada)...I was researching the different models available and I was wondering how valuable the VDC is, I realize you need to upgrade to a Proformance model to get it...I just like to add that I will be driving the car in winter snow (w/ snow tires).

Honestly, I only used the VDC when I first bought the car because I was afraid it would get away from me w/o VDC on. Now, I dont leave the VDC on unless conditions are very bad (heavy rain, any snow, etc.)

Its good to have, but definately not a must.

Better to have VDC then not to have it.

The VDC is useless until you need it; then its priceless.

In snow/ice country I'd think a "priceless" event will occur sooner rather than later.

Plus you get some slick 18 inchers plus tire pressure monitors.

Seriously, I live in sunny Cali now but grew up in Detroit, Mi. If I still lived in the ice/snow belt I would not buy the Z w/o VDC since it adds only a small amout to the price.

I just got a Perf Model and so far I really like the VDC. It is very nice when you are still getting used to the car and don't want it to get out of control. I'm sure I won't need it as much after a few track days. I still think it is great for those little winding mountain roads where you never know when you might hit some gravel (and there is no room for fishtailing!). I think it was worth it.

VDC is priceless if you ever need it. Don't skimp on safety features. I like VDC when I enter an off ramp loop too hot. I don't like VDC when I make hard right hand turns. Either way, it keeps the car going where you wanted.

Cali people, how are you not getting VDC to come on? Everyday I see the slip light flash at least once. Maybe I drive to hard?

Just don't get into the habit of relying on it because one day when it's not on it'll bite you right in the ***.

Well I keep it on and the few times Ive taken it off and driven like an idiot (when the roads are clear), Ive always had the back of the car spin out on me which makes me think that if i didnt have it, i would have gotten into an accident by now. So yes, better to have then not to have it.

VDC is worth it's weight in gold! Take it from another Canadian who drives year-round, it's awesome. I depend on that thing daily when there's snow on the ground (even with Blizzak's on). Damn hard to get the car to spin with it.

BTW - I run non staggered setup for the winter (and summer, I just ordered 245/40/18 BFG TA-KD all round) and VDC works fine.

Too bad no VDC in roadster ...

shortcut3d, maybe it's not you driving too hard. Maybe it's me not driving hard enough . I've only gotten the TCS to come on 2 times in the month and half i've owned my ZR. I think I am still learning the limits of the Z. I am coming from a Accord sedan .
