I don't know how the standard brakes are, but the Brembos are incredible. No matter how fast I'm going it feels like I just landed on an aircraft carrier, the car hauls to a stop instantly. This car is awesome!!!
I think overall, Nissan is really good on brakes. The Maxima, and my Spec-V brakes are also impressive. There's even a Brembo kit for the SE-R--the "Big Brake Kit" that comes with 13-inch rotors.

As for stopping distance, they are probably about the same. Tires are mostly responsible for braking distance, the Brembos is to reduce fade under repeated heavy braking.
Also, even with the Brembo brakes, if you are planning on doing heavy track racing, you will need to upgrade to racing-grade pads. Street pads aren't designed to handle the high temperatures that your brakes will create at the track. Track pads shouldn't be run on the street either, because they won't get hot enough and therefore will be too hard and will chew up your rotors.
You'll get a hint of how well the 350z was engineered to be a good track car when you try to swap out the brake pads and see how easy or hard it is....
