Default Anyone know how to raise the idle witout going to the dealer?

I would love to get it up by 200 - 250 rpms and get it to idle at about 800. The car idles a bit rough at times and the 200+rpm increase would make a huge difference. So does anyone have any knowledge about how to do this? Does it need to be programmed into the ecu (thats my guess)? If it does need to be done by the dealer how much did it cost you to do it (if you have) Thanks fellas, Peace.

Not sure it can be done??? A bit off the subject.... We are currently having a problem ourselves raising the idle on cars w/pro date 10/03 and later. Seems there is a software issue with the dealers consult systems that wont let us do it on 04 cars. We just did a set of JWT cams the other day on an 04 and guess what..... can't up the idle. T/S, Jim Wolf or Nissan don't seem to know how to fix this. We are promised a new software program by the end of the month. BTW: If someone just drives in and asks us to change timing and idle, we charge $40.00

I guess I'll take a chance at letting the dealer screw it up. Thanks.

They can't really, the hook up the consult and wait for the screens to come up and just punch in how much you want the timing advanced -5 to +5 I had mine advanced +4 about 4 months ago and I went today to have it retarded back to 0 and it had come down to +2.

I don't get why you would want to raise your idle? When I installed a grounding kit on my 6MT, it actually dropped my idle by 200-300 RPM.

Apply very light pressure to the gas pedal with your right foot until the desired RPM then hold steady. Okay, okay, not a permanent fix but will work in a crunch. ;-)

OOPs got settings confused, they do similar with idle just raise it until you are happy with it.

As for why, sometimes if you install CAI, fluwheels.... you need to raise the idle a bit.
