Default can i get side airbags in my car now?

i was wondering if it was possible to get the side airbags from the nissan dealership after taking delivery of the car. when i went to the dealer they had the exact car i wanted on its way without side airbags. i have had the car for a month and now feel as if i should have gotton the side airbags. is there a way to get the now or do i have to get them right from the factory?

I asked my dealer the same question before I bought my Z and I was told that you can't get it afterwards... you must buy it from factory...

I believe "no" is the answer.

You have to consider what goes into an airbag system besides just the bags themselves. There is computer hardware/software, sensors, wiring, diagnostic equipment, etc. that are all missing from your car. To get all of these things installed after the fact would be exceedingly expensive and time consuming, and you won't find a Nissan dealership around that knows how to do it because it's not maintenance, it's modification.

I don't know if it's possible... but if you think about it... I'm sure it'll cost you some serious $$$. Think how much steering wheel air bag setup goes for? Money Money. I suggest strapping on pillows all over the place.

I can say the answer is no.. It must be installed when the car is built. There is just no way to rip the car apart to install the needed parts after it's been built..
