350Z vs. Corvette C5
#42
What about the 05 Mustang GT, interior and exterior quality is very good, handling is going to be probably a little less than the Z.
However, Motortred just tested it and got 13.6s 1/4mile from the Automatic Mustang GT, the Manual GT should run 13.1-13.3s... that is almost a full second faster than the Z , and these are magazines times which are usually slower than what the car can actually do , price is still about $25k for the loaded (leather, 1000watts sound system, ...).

I'll keep a lookout for him and the corvette challenge. Thanks for the heads up.

I think go for the Z. I like the C5, but if you're going with a Vette, at a C6. they look better and perform a bit better than the C5. The Vette will probably out perform a Z in most aspects, but ask yourself what you're using the car for. If you're going to the strip all the time, then the little bit of performance that the vette has over the Z should make the decision pretty simple. If you are looking for more of an all around package, for a good bit less money, I'd go with the Z. The Z looks better anyway

EDIT: NM, just looked again and it's a 99.99, so basically its a 100mph trap. Still not what I'd expect, though.

I can't get past the awful looks of the 05 Mustang and I don't think it is in the same league as either the Vette or the 350Z. Thanks for everytbody's help and I'll keep you posted...

I had a funny experience yesterday I wanted to share but didn't want to start a new thread for this so I thought I would just post it here at it relates to this comparison.
Yesterday while driving on I-5 through Tacoma, WA a few people in an Acura Integra pulled up beside me in front; then a guy leaned out the widow with something silver in his hand. At first I thought, oh my gosh, I'm going to be shot at ! It turned out he was taking photos of my 350-Z. After a while he motioned for me to pull up beside him, and then he took more photos of the car. My wife and I were totally laughing the entire time. I've never seen anything like that except with really old, rare antique cars.

OK. I definitely don't want to start a flame war here, but I was curious if anyone has had a lot of seat time in both the Z and Vette? I am going to buy myself something nice for my 40th b-day and wanted some input. I am fairly familiar with the Vette as my father-in-law has one, but have only ridden in a 350Z a few times. Is the handling similar? Braking? How easy is the 350Z to work on? I wouldn't be modding either very much (I already have a couple "slightly modded" cars. Thanks in advance! Ben
