Sad news *Need Help*
Much to my dismay, I am having to gracefully bow out of the Z hysteria and anticipation due to something financially that has arisen. Being that my $1,000 deposit (@ MSRP) was nonrefundable, I would like to replace my preorder with someone else. I am in the Columbia, SC area. I ordered a chrome silver touring/charcoal/5AT (no flaming on my way out, please--not that I would expect that on THIS forum ) with floor mats and kickplates.
BTW, in the event no one fills my order, I will fight like hell to get my deposit back, as I think it being nonrefundable is a crock (I did all along just never anticipated not going through with buying it). I've seen some previous posts where some people were saying it was illegal for the dealers to make it nonrefundable. Will some of you speak up once again to refresh me?? Also, I would like some ammo as far as my knowledge of the whole preorder process. For example, I know that my dealer is going to charge "at least $2,000 over MSRP" when they start showing up on the lot. My question is when do the dealers get to order cars to place on their lot (as opposed to being limited to ordering "pre-orders")? What I'm getting at is that by my backing out they can actually make money off my car by selling it on the lot for over MSRP, while I was going to pay only MSRP. I just need to know when the dealers are able to order inventory for their lot. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Please email me if you are interested in filling my slot.
I will still be a regular here, and maybe I will be back in the saddle once the convertibles come out

My only suggestion would be if you placed your order in the last 60 days and did it with a credit card you could dispute the charge, but I'm sure like most of us, you did it back in January.

Nonrefundable deposits are illegal in some states, but it has to do with state law, not federal. Go check with your city hall.
My dealer also insisted on nonrefundable, but I said to make it half refundable, which $500, or I'd walk. Of course, they would've. Not only that, they gave me a discount of $1100 below MSRP and also threw in the floor mats for free. Nowhere will you find a better deal than that.

Hey 1st Z ever
What you may want to do is find someone who has a Z on order in your area, get the options, color etc.. that they have ordered. Then call Nissan and change your order. I'm not positive of the SC law but I don't think that they can refuse to give you your $$$ back. Good luck!!!!!!!!!!!
