Speeding ticket!!!
Damn, my 2nd one in the last 3 months. First in my Z though.
I am still in my break-in period, and I vary my RPM's on the FWY by fluctuating from 65MPH to 80MPH... Well, this time, I hit 82MPH, and BOOM! Sirens.
SUCKS!

hmm everyone around here uses instant on laser. not worth it for me. but luckily GA has a law on the books that you cant get a ticket for doing less than 10 over the limit. so I stay under that, cause I know if I do 76 in a 65 and theres a guy next to me doin 90. Im gonna get that ticket, not him.

Which freeway did you get the ticket on?
My Passport 8500 has saved me multiple times... once I heard this strange high-pitched tone from my Passport 8500, I slowed down and noticed a block away there was a cop aiming his laser at me... saved me a fat ticket.

I'm not sure if its the same where you live - but 3 speeding tickets in 12 months = 1 month suspension.
(Note: that goes for 3 moving violations in 1 year. Running red lights, stop signs etc)
If you get another moving violation within 12 months of your 1st suspension, it can mean a 3 month suspension, or even getting your license revoked.
Be careful out there

I'll be a bit more detailed to give you guys a better idea.
Was on the 261 Toll highway in Orange County, and was going at 82 MPH on a 65 MPH zone.
The ticket previous to that one was in Riverside County, going 60 MPH in a 45 MPH zone.
I have not gone to traffic school in the last 2 years, so I qualify fo traffic school. Here is my plan.
I will go to court to fight the first ticket. Riverside County courts allow you to fight tickets, and also go to traffic school, even if your cop shows up! So I will go, and if the cop does a no show, then I win. If he shows up, then I'll just go to traffic school. I have the court date set up around Thanksgiving time, as to increase my chances that the officer will not show.
The 2nd ticket was in Orange County, and what's special about that is that OC is one of the only counties in CA that offer the Level II traffic school program. It's called the "Problem driver program" and lets you take it even if you have attended traffic school in the past 18 months. So I won't even fight it. Just go to court and ask the judge to reduce my fine, and take the traffic school.
So in summary:
Best case scenerio is the cop not showing up for my first ticket, and getting off free with only 1 traffic school to do.
Worst case scenerio is I attend traffic school for both tickets.
No points on my driving record whatsoever.

Try this, I have gotten out of 2 tickets this way and personally know of many more people who have used this successfully in Ca:

Also, newbie question.
Does the 8500 or V1 protect you against the Laser gun as well?
Sorry, I'm a complete dumbass when it comes to detectors.

Here is an idea!!!! Stay at 70MPH and downshift to 5th gear for a while....Then upshift to 6th for awhile...
It's not the speed you need to vary, its the RPM's! The Chippers well be happy and You might save a buck or two while you are at it !
