not real sure where youre going with this. i think you read my post wrong.

i was refering to the new g coming out and curious if the z will get a redesign at the same time. kinda like how when a silverado gets a makeover so does the sierra kinda thing.

All these rumors are just speculations, and as we all know when a new model comes out, there are hardly never any surprises.
So by your theory if the new GTR has anything in it besides an inline 6 that will ruin it's history correct?

Default 2007 Z vs. Future Model

Considering the new Z could be launched for the 08 or 09 season, I am contemplating waiting for the new model to come out instead of ordering my 07 now for arrival this fall. What does everyone think? Should I wait a few years (which will be very hard as I just graduated college and was really looking forward to buying a new Z) for the new model or should I buy the 07? I love the current body style and everything else about the current Z but I am afraid that the 08 will come out with more hp, etc. and I will be left regretting my 'mistake'.

I def feel like an idiot for not thinking of that but I have refused to ever think about leasing as you 'lose' all the money you put into it because you have nothing in return for the purchase of the asset at the end of the lease.

With Depreciation you would actually be in the hole on your "Investment" after 2 years with payments that are more than a lease. Cars are no investment at all unless you have an uber rare model or you plan to store it for 40 years or so and take it to barrett jackson..

Of course. With a lease, you own nothing so at the end you have nothing. I would def lose money if buy then sell after two years, that wasn't the plan tho. If you run a NPV model or IRR model, there are ways to find when the investment could yield a positive return. This is possible but unlikely in the case of a 'non-exotic' car.

Absolutely, The history of the GT-R is all about the inline 6. Besides, Name one high performance car Japan has made that carries a V-8. Close to none, why because its all about balance, performance and efficiency. all of which the GT-R has been praised for, for all these years.

I heard due to the gas prices and sales dropping - they will retrofit all 2003-2006 to have the flux capacitor and hoover conversion -- plus it runs on garbage and have 1000HP all for 25K

sorry for being such a dork... but the car in back to the future still ran on regular gas... the "mr fusion" device that took trash only powered the time circuts... otherwise part 3 would have been a really short movie... GOSH!

The last part of that remark is only semi true...

The reason why Japan does not build MANY cars with V8's, besides overseas cars like our Lexus 430 based V8 cars--which are sold primarily as V6s in japan--is because of the market, not because of balance performance and efficiency. In japan, the insurance and auto taxing system is different than the USA. For the most part, the insurance rate ranges are based largely on your car's displacement in regard to car type. In other words, simply put, the larger the displacement engine, the more expensive your insurance--another reason why american cars do not sell much in japan; they would be expensive to own. Also for the same reason, other countries like the USA lexus cars get V8s while japan gets only the V6, maybe with a turbo. Turbos are also VERY popular in japan because it allows japanese consumers to purchase a well powered car with lesser displacement; they can get a V6-like powered car with only 4cylinder insurance rates (also why they get the Toyota Altezza; aka IS200 turbo, and we in the USA get the N/A Lexus IS300 V6). Then they use the whole "balance, performance, efficiency" stuff as the icing on the cake to mask the marketing obstacles.

i'm in the same position as you are, out of college in a week and i've been thinking Z for awhile now, but tempted to wait or get something else that has been recently released (ie. TL/IS250).

I thought the new Z is being released in '09 as an '10 model? Is it quite certain it will be an '08 released as '09 model?
