An interesting feature, but a feature that I hope comes equipped with an on/off button.

It'd be great if it works well, but as mentioned, rev-matching is one of the things that makes driving a manual interesting.

Also I'm curious as to how the computer will know how many gears you would like to downshift so as to give the appropriate amount of revs.

Yeah, and here is my guess: the rev matching mode will function sequentially and is more intended for track use than everyday use. And it won't work for, say, a 6-3 shift. I could be wrong. Guess we'll have to wait to find out.

I believe it is relatively simple for the car to "know" what gear you're going into...and what speed you're traveling.

There is a gear selection display on the cluster in the MT. It shows you what gear you are in. I am sure once you hit the clutch and brake and the gear leaves the gate it knows what to do.

I am guessing it wont be any lighter than the 2003. It did get heavier over the years, but i fear it still wont match say an 03 enthusiast. I think my car came in at 3188 on corner scales when track prepped (no mats, spare, tools). Its lighter as it sits today as i have several lightened components. I my last dyno a few years back was 275 at the wheels. Assuming a 17% loss, that is around 331 hp. I am very interested in comparing my car as it sits today to a 370Z.

Instead of advertising new cars with horse power, maybe they should add the part of Power to Weight ratio

Was your Z the one that ran across the bridge with a raised limiter? Is it a daily driver? I just wonder how the car behaves with cams.

Yes, It sees 2/3 of daily duty. 88K miles half of those being with cams. It idles at around 900 rpm with a slight bumpy cam lope, nothing like the tomei's. It feels as good or better than the HR up top (all the way to 7200), just not as smooth of delivery. Nissan really did a good job with the HR and the new 3.7 with smoothing out the higher RPM feel.

i dont know about anyone else.... but honestly im competely dissapointed with the ammount of weight that is actually being reduced, which is none... (cause if its losing weight to should be lighter than the lightest 350z which it doesnt seem like it will be) and again the same exact motor specs... the 2 HP is honestly probably just marketing... nothing different from the g37.

Nissan will chalk it up to "freer-flowing exhaust" compared to the G37.

Seems like Nissan is playing mind games with the numbers if true. This 200lbs lighter nonsense and 332hp letdown to some[I was hoping for more too] is not going to stop me from trying to get a 370z. It may not live up to the initial hype from Nissan but it will be a superior car to the 350z so it will be worth it to purchase for some of us...

BTW what would 332hp equate to under the old SAE rating? Teh e46 M3 was rated 333hp under the old SAE rating if memory serves. So makes me wonder what 332hp would be if rated like the M3.

Well eGMCarTech also states 332HP but I think they got that number from LA Auto Show, but who knows how true that is until we get the numbers from Nissan officially. Linky: http://www.egmcartech.com/2008/11/11...oduces-332-hp/

Yes, I was hoping for more like many of you have but if 332HP (new SAE rating) is true, then let's wait for the weight of the car. I don't believe it until I see anything from Nissan.

By the way, you can always keep the amount of gas low in your 20-gallon gas tank. It saves you 124lbs if you have 15 gallon less.

There's no direct old->new SAE calculation, as it differs per engine, but you could safely guess around another 10-15+ HP for the VQ37.

When the HR came out, it was under the new standard, so the 306 HP didn't seem like a big jump compared to the 298 HP rev-up. But in reality, it was about 10-15HP lower compared to the older rating system which would have put it around 320 HP.

A few places compared dynos with similar results, but compare these runs in this thread, with VQ35HR and VQ35 Revup on the same graph... the HR peaks about 15 HP higher.

(Note - the first graph is of a non-revup AT. Look at the second graph)

That is exactly what Im was trying to get at...So it would appear that the VQ37 would be making about 350hp under the old rating but 332hp under the current sae rating...This car should be a bit faster than the e46 M3 with its weight advantage and power. I deffinately see high 12's @110 mph being possible though of course there are other variable involved like gearing etc...Cant wait to see the 370z numbers on a 1/4 track...

Are you guys worrying about its first Rev-Matching System for the manual at all? You know how it is with new stuff, it usually has flaws.
