Default la auto show states 332 HP

Their website states 332 Hp, 3.7 liter DOHC V6 with variable valve event and lift control. How credible is this?

332 HP isn't much of a jump from 330 in the G37. I was thinking at least 10 or so more hp in the 370.

If they were just going to bump up the engine above the G37, I think it will be more than 2HP. If not... it should be the same 330.
But still... 330HP is going to be damn sexy in this light weight Z.

Regardless, you have to consider the power/weight ratio; 370z will be competitive no matter the amount of weight reduction... Just look at a 350z against a G37 stock for stock. Of course the amenities your getting with the G37 make up for the weight (luxury sport coupe).

I agree, even with 330hp and the lighter weight, the car will be fast on any account.

What about comparing this to the new camaro V6? I believe the camaro is a couple hundred pounds heavier? The V8 would smoke it though, stock for stock that is.

everyone keeps bringing the weight of the car up but no one knows what the weight of the car is? Your assuming the 370z will be alot lighter but that not be true with the upgraded interior.

smokin370z: are you a member on the solstice forum. your screen name is smokinsolstice isn't it or do i have the wrong person.

That data has to come from Nissan so it must be true. HP will creep up in subsequent years just like it did in the 350. I bet this car is going to be killer in two more years. Not that it isn't hot right now but they will enhance and improve it

Like I have been saying, some of you were just letting your excitement get you a little delusional.

The G37 & 370Z have the same exact engine. So they will have negligible differences.

G37 Sedan: 328 HP
G37 Coupe: 330 HP
370Z: 332 HP

These minor differences are probably from the intake and/or exhaust design.
I will wait for it to be official.

I guess I'm a little disappointed. I'm not saying 332 is anything to sneeze at..it's ~8% more than the HR I have. Still, with the 370z being marketed as a true "sports" car I would think Nissan would have decided to give it a little more power than a luxury sports car. I hear you, it's lighter... but still.

We'll see tomorrow for sure I suppose, but I was hoping for something closer to 350.

I guess this really means the best thing to do is wait a good 2 years... traditionally as was with the 350z the power jumped from 206kw to 221kw and 230kw for the HR, we can expect more refinement, more power and less bugs in a 2011 model- for those of us who just bought a 350z recently that is. Hopefully with time we'll also get some aftermarket products for those damn tail lights, haha!!

I doubt it. 420HP and weighing 4000lbs gives it about the same power to weight ratio as the 370Z.

Negligible differences in terms of power or performance? I sure hope you meant the former. The 370Z will be leagues ahead of both G cars in terms of performance. The weight difference alone puts it in another class.

So, the more hp, the sportier the car gets?

There are ton of luxury cars that will overpower the 370z. That doesn't mean a thing.

I feel many of you care about more hp just for the bragging rights (speaking in general, not directed to you).

Power, obviously. The weight difference is the main reason for its superior performance.

It's 3860lbs for the SS 6spd and 422HP.

Not at all, more HP does NOT equal more sporty. I really hope you're not intentionally misinterpreting my words to get one of these e-arguments going I really don't care to participate in those. (sorry for that comment, I just saw your last line so obviously you're not)

I'll give you my particular definition of "enough" power. For me enough is when I can't come out of a curve (tight or not) with my foot on the floor. Now before you jump all over that think about what I'm saying.

Yes I know the 350 now has plenty enough power to get you in trouble in the right situation, but does it really give you an adrenaline rush (outside of turning)? For me I'd like a little more.

As far as bragging rights I couldn't care less. There will always be a car with more power.

Now, when I'm playing in the twisties with my boss and his Z06, I'd like to have enough power to not be anxious when I know the next straight is coming up. I can run all over him in the curves (know I'm not stock in that regard)...but when it gets straight forget it. Yes I'd like to have a little more power in this particular "sports" car..... but I'm not going to disown Nissan because of it I love their cars.
