Default Where is the surprise?

Anyone remember the several interviews with people from Nissan and when asked about the engine they said we would be surprised. Well here we are and sure enough it's the 3.7 with 332hp; very close to what everyone initially was thinking would be the in the Z. So were these guys just pulling **** out of their asses or what? Using the same spec G37 engine isn't exactly a surprise.

Anyone think they plan to offer some kind of higher FI version or larger engine options?

I think it's the same reps that were hinting at 200+ pound weight losses for the new Z... who hopefully by now have absolved themselves of their past deeds and negated the possibility of future embarassment by way of hari kari...

I think they were referring to the world's first rev matching manual transmission.

Honestly, imo... it's not that big a deal... and from a technology perspective, nothing groundbreaking... just a few sensors and some algorithmic programming into the ECU.

Nissan somewhat over-hyped the 370Z in my opinion... promising all this add'l improvement... when the only thing they delivered on was the interior.

True, but common Engrish language version known as hari kari (plus, it's more fun to say)... most people would not know what Harakiri (actually a colloquialism itself) or Seppuku was... blame the 80's pop-culture fascination with all-things-Japanese for that...

It was probably the sub woofer doubling as a spare tire cover.

Imo that "you'll be surprised" statement was aimed squarely at the average (non enthusiast) joe. Or 1st time Z buyer.

They improved everything that is objective. Power, handling, trunk space, cabin room, wheel base, tranny, interior, weight.

What are you talking about?

Yeah that's the only thing that comes to mind.

they did not improve on weight! they used ligher weight materials and added more stuff instead of taking away weight. not that im complaning though

They should make a stripper version.... and for all the stuff they take out, add recaro seats, extra bracing, the best intake and exhaust system possible! straight from the factory short shift kit from the factory, coilovers, aero, undertrays, better LSD, cams, headwork and what not. a factory special track car. just like honda does with it's Type R's, or BMW does with it's CSL', hell Nissan's parent company renault megane sport coupe made track special with a freaking rool cage jsut to beat the cobalt SS around the Ring.

and they did not improve hatch space! there is less room available for stuff.
