While the current poll statistics are favorable, when it get down to the nut-cuttin, not enough interest and commitment (i.e. putting your money where your mouth is) spell death for the idea.

Do a search on "targa" and you'll see how popular the debate was, but only a handful of people have actually turned their Z into one.

Turning your car into one, and buying one factory are two different things.

If you bought it that way, you'd know that the body is sufficiently strong enough, and the car was tested not to leak and if it does it would be covered under warranty for a period of time. It would also only be a 1-2k option, depending on how it's bundled and that would all roll up into your payments.

To go out and cut the roof off your car ins another story. What shop do you take it too? What does it cost? Who do you trust? Will it leak and rattle? Will it fit right, how much flex will I have? What will it do to resale? I honestly don't know what a shop charges, but I'd imagine it would be 3-5k. Lot of money to potentially ruin your car.

A targa top where you actually have to get out of the car and manually remove it then stow it away somewhere? Stupid, will never happen.

A targa top like the 911 where its essentially an enormous sunroof? Better, but still wouldnt work with the Z's roof design. So basically.... Never gonna happen.
