Ironically I'm more intrigued by the Ariya than the Z.

Honestly, because its SUCH a boring looking car, I would go with red just to make it pop a little. Throw some dark colored TEs or CEs on there and go from there.

Easy choice, get the first 5 cars for the price of the last one and play bumper cars in your driveway.

Lots of bitchin' and moanin' going on about the above Nissan launch timeline. Potential customers are losing their minds by the 30-60 day increase in ordering and delivery dates. This, despite the car industry still recovering from pandemic shipping delays and a shortage of computer chips. This is in marked contrast to the Z33 launch almost two decades ago when we all hungered for any tidbit of information on the debut of the new Z car. I'm sure Nissan product planners are not happy either, but many of these delays are beyond their control!

The BRUTAL TRUTH is people are losing their patience and their minds over the wait...

That above time line is pure speculation. It says marketing launch in August. Nissan is already marketing the Z. There are ads for it on TV. I think you'll see them on sale by May to take advantage of tax refund season.

Perhaps,
But if the stated numbers are correct 8.4lbs/HP while not GT500 or Viper territory is reasonable. If I'm not mistaken the designers want it to remain what it has always been- an affordable, driver oriented "sporty" car.

Starting at 2.4L and upping the output or CCs with each new edition I'd say Nissan is being very consistent with what the Z brand is.

The beauty of the Z has always been that it's a fun, affordable car to drive right out of the box, and easily adaptable if the owner chooses to pony up the coins to take the drivetrain and chasis to their limits.

To add on to John's post, this new Z was developed at relatively low cost, using existing (but re-tuned) components. Unless there's major changes before production, to get this level of performance for $40K is amazing. But that's another part of the Z legacy--offering tremendous value, affordability and utility--to the general public. Sure, it would've been nice to develop an all-new chassis to replace the FM platform and use CF construction to save a bunch of weight, but that would've come at great cost.

Spreading out the cost of an expensive motor like the VR30DTT from beyond just Infiniti makes sense as well. But beyond weight, it'll be notable when Nissan releases static weight distribution numbers. Let's hope they can keep it near the 52/48 level of the Z33 for optimum handling.
