Honestly, can anyone actually imagine pay over $60,000 for a Nissan Z? Is this not absolutely insane?
For $60K I'm getting a used Cayman or TTRS.
I'm sorry but the Z isn't worth a penny over $40k to me, maybe $45k with every option available.
That Nismo should have at least had a DCT instead of slushbox.

Reality check (at least where I am):
Out here on the Left Coast, have seen a few Toyotas sell for these "delusional prices" - GR Corolla for $75k (not even a Morizo Edition), New Prius Prime Premium for $62k, Grand Highlander $55k on base of ~$44k. Yes, these are first off the boat (or railcar as it were) and rare (but getting less so) but the point is, when people want, people will get; no matter how stupid it may be to have "first bragging rights".
Would have to guess that there are going to be people - while not lined up out the door - who will buy the first Nismos for an $80k+ asking price. Worth, at that point, is in the eye of the beholder.
Civic Type-R's are more that this. So are the New Integra's. I'd take a Z before either of those. But honestly, at this price point, I would probably buy a used GT350. I do still want a Performance Z with a stick, but only if I can get all blue, without the black roof. If Nissan doesn't offer that when I'm ready to buy, I will be looking at used GT350 in blue with white stripes.

Oh, I am completely aware of the ridiculous prices people are paying these days, I blame them because if they didn't pay, then dealers would have to sell at MSRP.
There are some cars with irrational MSRP, I get inflation is a thing but $31k for a premium twin and $36k for a base GR Corolla when the twins are a more complete car and feel less cheap.
Then you have the Z on a VERY old chassis, still using old parts and a borrowed engine, I'm not a cheap person but that just ain't worth its MSRP to me.
At least the CTR and the ITS have the factor of them being pretty universally called the "the best FWD cars" available.
Still does not justify their price to me.
This past weekend I worked our Last Chance SCCA Majors race and had the opportunity tp compare notes with another Z racer. We both agreed that since the Z34 was a development of the FM platform originally used for the Z33, that handling of the new Z (Z34b) should be similar. But the 1.8" of wheelbase culled from the Z33 really made a difference in how the 370Z handled. While it lightened the Z34 a bit, it changed the pivot point forward and made the chassis less stable in high-speed cornering. That, together with the cooling issues with running the VQ37VHR made the 350Z (in SCCA Touring trim) a better race package. And while Nissan stated the new 2024 NISMO Z has some chassis refinements, my bet is the 350Z remains the best handling modern Z car.
No doubt the 2024 NISMO Z will be the faster car, but considering the costs involved, those of us keeping our 350Zs have one more advantage to consider.
Saw my first Z in the wild the other day - White Automatic with some old guy driving.
Front end didn't bother me as much as in pictures... in fact I liked it.
Think I'm going to like the Nismo version better, but the nose wasn't a deal breaker.
Loved the rear end and the side view.
Only thing that bothered me was the Door Pull and Fuel Door.
Fuel Door just ridiculously big.
Door Pulls... just looked odd... concentric circles and oversized again... didn't blend.
I want to say it's not a big deal, but never good when a car makes you look twice and say that is weird.
