For all of you who were worried about the integrity of the roadster if rolled....

The roll bars held up fine, although the plastic cover got smashed off. The windshield, while bent out of shape also offered adequate protection... ie: both passenger and driver came out of the crash with their heads intact.

Don't want to get into the details today. I would post some pics, but my digi camera doesn't want to upload them tonite

Strangely enough, not one of the airbags deployed

OMG....!!!!!

Dude, I am glad everyone is OK, I hope there were not any other serious injuries... Man, I have always wondered about that, especially since I drag my car...

If you can, or feel the desire, please let us know what happened. I have been told by guys who track the car, is it virtually impossible to roll it (because of such a low center of gravity) unless your wheels catch something and force the car into it.

Again, I am really glad everyone is OK.

Regards,
--B

Sorry guys, but unfortunately there won't be any pics... my memory card was overloaded and dumped them. To get more I'd have to go to the insurance salvage lot... yes, the roadster was totalled.

I wasn't driving, it was my 17yr old son, with his 15yr old brother as a passenger. They went out for a short drive on a sunny day not too far from home, lost control on a gravel shoulder, spun, and ended up in a REALLY big ditch alongside the river. Judging by the debris, I'd suspect it rolled while going into the ditch... they don't remember, it was all so fast. Speed and inexperience were the cause, although the speed wasn't excessive (suspected about 85k, so thats what? 50mph?)

Its only a car.... I'm mostly thankful aside from some minor injuries they're both ok.

I, for one, now would NEVER even consider buying a ragtop without roll protection

I am so glad your boys are okay!!!!

Did they suffer any injuries from the accident? Walked away totally unscathed? That says a lot for the roll bars and the car. I've heard of some similar things with the BMW's (Z3 and Z4) but this is the first I've heard with the 350Z. Figured this was a very hard car to roll because of how it hugs the ground, but gravel and speed can be a dangerous combination.

Again glad they are okay!!!

I am glad your sons are okay. Apparently the Z is better made than I thought. There have been quite few postings of accidents where the driver and passenger walked away with a few scratches.
