Question What should be my first Mods on my new Roadster???

I just wanted to get some advice from fellow Z owners who have work done to their Z's.

I want to know what I should do to the Roadster, and what should be first and so on.

I am looking to improve the exhaust, body (although subtle, NO RICE), Intake, and Interior.

Thanks for the replies and I will reply back!

Silverstone, Black top, and many MODS to come!
GT-7's 19" Gun Metal on the way!

mods still seem too new... Im personally not sure we've gotten the best yet. might wanna wait for performance items.

asthetics are up to you, look at em all, I like the cwest personally/topsecret type kits(both in the cf version pleeeaase)

start with a grounding kit, its a fun modification to bond with your car.

Chrome out the roll hoops, like as on the Audi TT. That would be hot

darn, i had all these "RICEY" suggestions to give you until i read that part

personally, i think the exhaust system is good. i'd hate to spend close to a 1000 on an aftermarket exhaust to risk it sounding like a fart can. but i'm sure there are exhausts systems out there that sound good. check out JIC. if you can find a place that does mandrel bending with good quality materials, and good welding, it'd be nice to get wider pipes to complement headers and intake. of course these mods would give minimal gains unless you do something about the cat (i.e. race header or high flow cat). for the interior, unless you have the navigation system, i think a DVD headunit would slap right into that center console!! that's the route i would go. go before the show. good choice in rims btw.

I will agree that the grounding wires are nice first mod. It's inexpensive and does seem to make the engine run smoother.

Other than that it all depends how much you want to spend. A CAI is about $250 but there are still debates as to whether or not there is a performance advantage with one. I personally like the Injen I have plus it looks awesome. An exhaust is nice but now you're in the$800-1000 range.

Hopefully you'll have the car by the 24th and you'll be able to see and hear firsthand different exhaust systems, CAI's, grounding wires, etc. and get other people's opinion in person.

Thumbs up First I would like to thank you all.......

for the responses! I really appreciate it!

I talked to my dealer yesterday and he said I should have the car in 2 weeks, so it looks like I will be in for the car caravan down to Jersey on the 24th!

Quick question I am new to this grounding kit you guys refer to...What does it do for the car? and how difficult is it to put in?

By the time the Aug. 24th cruise comes I hope to have the Intake, exhaust, and the rims on the car, and you guys can let me know what you think.

MGL thanks for the DVD idea! That would be hot to have that right where the navi goes!

jeez man, dont ask that. the grounding kit is a mystical modification whos power is is the only thing greater than its mystery.

no seriously, I have no damn clue, ok, wait I can repeat what I was told(not that I understand it) pistons firing, alternator kicking in, spark plugs sparking, all creates little electrical impulses in the block, these travel in the ecu input lines and create noise, since the engine reads whats happening from these lines, it causes confusion in the ECU, and it cant properly respond. got it? engine makes noise in the ecu, ecu cant do its job right, you get a "rough" engine.

now you take a series of 4 or 8ga wire(looks pretty, nice blue, or red, or whatever you want ) and connect them around the frame, to 4 points on the engine block, and finally to the negative terminal of the battery, this is a completely dead circuit, no positive current, just grounding the frame and engine block better.

kits can be had at a variety of prices, you can even make em yourself. installation takes about 30minutes if you have a 10mm ratchet(read as: buy a 10mm ratchet wrench) everything in the entire car is 10mm, buy a nice 10mm wrench now, youll get your moneys worth gaurenteed.

hope that helps...

Alot of the aftermarket intake and exhaust systems are not making any more power.... and i think its because Nissan did their homework with the stock systems.

Go get some nice wheels and body kit. Thats what id do if i had any money left over.

Borla Exhaust, for $700.

It sounds great, it's a performance upgrade, and looks good from behind where other drivers will be watching

I'd get a hardtop for it.

Just kidding.

Wheels are a must, probably 19's.

U should do grounding kit first... inexpensive and easy. Wheels if you have the $$$. Best mod for performance would be plenum. Look at the ECU if u r looking for even more power. I have to agree - chrome roll hoops would look SICK as HELL!

Default Don't forget new Brake Pads

From what I have read if you don't want to have to clean your wheels every 100 miles you will need to change the factory pads for low brake dust pads like - Hawks HPS

Plan on doing this on my roadster

Where do you get the chrome grill strips? I really think the grill looks cheap and I think those would really make a difference.

Default Borla True Duals

Be careful you get the Borla True Duals, not the cat backs. The true duals seem much better. Than the Borla headers are inexpensive. I would then go for the Unorthodox 3-Pullies kit or the Technosquare ECU upgrade, and either the AEM or Injen intake.
