Default Top material and care?

The top material seems to be a cross between canvas and vinyl. I sent a Question to Nissan on this but no answer yet. Top cleaning and protectant products (Raggtopp) have specific products for either canvas tops or vinyl tops. I am not sure which to order. Anyone have this answer from a reliable source?

I was flipping through a trade magazine and read up on Wolfstein's RaggTopp cleaner and protectants. Ordered mine from www.autofanatics.com. Seems to be a highly respected product and worked great for me. check it out.

I think it's vinyl.........it's just textured to look like fabric.......I've seen many fabric tops........my Convertible Solera has a fabric.....it's much different, I think the "Z"'s top is vinyl.

Default Vinyl - My Guess

I also ownded a Toy SOlora - It was by all means Cloth as is Mercedes. My Z Looks and feels like vinyl. Which means shorter life, but alot cheaper to repair.

It may also be a vinyl composite. Nissan likes to mix various materials (plastic carbon fiber drive shaft)

I have been exposed to a lot of canvas, and that's what it looks like to me!

Thumbs up Top Material

The top of your Z Roadster is indeed Canvas.

That answer is direct from Nissan USA.

I used raggtopp fabric protectant and it works great. Just let it dry completely before you get it wet. I applied it, went inside and took a nap when I worke up it was raining, and that stuff got all over my car. It was a nightmare to get off all the surfaces paint rubber, glass.

The good news is that it will still rub off paint glass rubber even after drying. I washed the car three times and inspected it getting all the raggtopp runoff off the car with a microfibre towel.

The leaf blower gets all the water off the top in 10 seconds flat now. Water beads like it's been zaino'd

The can says you don't have to mash off the top, but I would and will next time.

I started a thread concerning this same topic a few days ago:
Heres the link:

Also, I called Nissan personally and was told that the top is indeed made out of CAVNAS....thus it is FABRIC and that means you should purchase the RAGGTOPP FABRIC cleaner and protectant kit....just ordered mine today, it should be here tomorrow they said....ordered it from Autogeek.com.....nice folks and helpful.......Total for both products with shipping was $30.90.

I've heard that the RaggTopp kit is the best thing for the top, I also heard a product by 303 was also good.

I will keep you all updated once I apply it....
