3m isn't in the 2k range though, at the 2k level probably ebay china brand for a car. 3m is amazing in everything they do but also way expensive imo

Nice attempt at the plastidip. I am sure you will get better each time you try it.

I think the biggest problem with your car is the wheel gap. Those offsets are clearly not for the Z. Those actually look like the Konig wheels I had on my Civic. If you change your wheels I bet the car will look 1000x better.

Plasti-dip can look awesome if done correctly. OP, the first time is tough, learn from your mistakes and you'll do much better next time. The first thing I ever dipped was a motorcycle helmet and it looked horrible. I was holding the can too far away and it was very rough in texture. Peeled it back off, shot it again and it turned out perfect. I've dipped my emblems and door handles on the Z, my wife's wheels on her Audi, and my entire motorcycle changing it from black to pearl white:

Oh, and it cost me about $100 and one lazy afternoon to do the bike. I'll probably peel it off next year and go with a different color. That's the beauty of it!

I've read horror stories when having to peel it off. I rather sand/paint/sand/buff. For the same price the dip costs(just much more time)

The only time it's difficult to peel off is if you don't apply it thick enough. The thicker the better.

Better than I was expecting, just not a fan of this stuff over a wrap or spot painting

Keep us updated how it keeps up over time. If your car isn't your DD you could probably run it for awhile with retouching the spots that start turning bad

I freaking LOVE your wrap jobs. Quick question on wraps. Do they install/remove the same way window tints do?

No, it is dry install and you need to manipulate it around contours.

Does the wrap stretch a bit? And if its dry install, can you still push out the air bubbles? Never done wrap before, but i would love to learn and try messing around with it.

Op, I think you should have went with dip pearls, not feeling the flakes, especially on a chameleon pearl. Nice coverage though, maybe a layer of the new top coat would make it pop, but it's pricey right now.

BTW, if done right, dip will last 3-4 years easily, my wheels have the original dip on them since 2011, no peels or fades.

Current wheels on my Versa, 6 coats of black dip, 2 coats of gold metalizer.
