Default New Z Owner, Have a couple problems

Hey Guys, I just sold my e92 335i and got a standard 04 350z roadster last month. The car drives good no complaints regarding that.

However, I’m experiencing some issues.

The main thing which is bothering me is a fast pitched ticking noise coming from the engine bay. The sound is noticeable if you hear closely and its still there when i rev the car in idle.

I noticed this after it gave me a engine light after 2 weeks of daily driving. Took it to the shop it was cylinder 2 misfire. Had them Change all the plugs to Ngk and replaced the coil pack in cylinder 2.

After that the light went away but came back later that day. It shows up sometimes and GOES AWAY on its own. It’s annoying

so yeah after this whole engine light thing i noticed the ticking noise. I’m worried if it would be something serious. Any help is appreciated thanks!

It’s a 2004 350Z roadster
120,000 kms on the dash.

First thing would be to go get it scanned and have the code(s) read again. If it comes on and off, then it will likely be stored if the SES light is off.

As far as the ticking noise, easiest first step is to check the oil level. Try to do this when it the engine is cold and it has been sitting for a while in order to get an accurate measurement.

When they did the coils, ask them if any were wet with oil. If yes, that's the cause of the bad coil and the misfire. Replace the valve covers.
