Default You guys ever not close your trunk?

The trunk seems to take a good slam to close it shut. To make it worse, it's hard to tell whether it's closed or not. The only way to tell is that the gap between the trunk and the body panel is slightly bigger.

Try bringing the trunk down 75% and then shut down. Or appox. 1/4 of the opening and then shut down.

Forgot to mention...as your closing your trunk place your hand on the Nissan badge as a handle...it helps a lot!

I'm just getting used to using the proper amount of effort to close my trunk. A couple of weeks ago, I drove all the way into DC with it ajar. I didn't realize it until someone who had been behind me yelled over that it seemed to be open. I was impressed that the lid never flew open.

It would be nice if it was hooked into the "door is ajar" light on in the gauge console.

I have the same problem too. I just get use to close the trunk with the nissan badge to apply persure. And that's also why I can't debadge. Just wonder for those who debadge, do they have any problem to close the trunk??

I never had any problems - i just push the trunk lid down. I always try to pick it up after I close it to make sure it is closed. That is a habit that I have always done since I started driving.

Mine closes very easily. I also try to pick it up to check it after closing. The reason it doesn't fly open when you are driving is because of the airflow over it .

To clarify, when I say I don't close the trunk completely I mean, it is left in the same state as after you press the trunk button. It's open, but you still need to use some force to actually open it.

Using the nissan badge to close the trunk seems like a good idea. I usually just use the edge of the trunk, and that doesnt seem to give me enough grip. Maybe that's why I can't shut it right.

I left it partly shut a lot of time because I didnt slam it hard enough and it's hard to tell if I did or not. It never flew open. It's kinda like the hood. It could be latched, but not completely shut. That's probably why it doesnt fly open when you drive.

If only we had trunks like mercedes cars, they close the trunk completely even if you didn't slam the trunk hard enough.

I'll remember to try to open it again after I close it to make sure it is shut from now on....

Thanks for the advices....

My Z is debaged in the rear. Like I said...bring the trunk down about 25% from the bottom and slam shut. I have to wipe off my fingermarks after closing. How often are you going to use the trunk????? The salesman was the one who showed me using the Nissan badge as a handle. Remember, Roadster's are bare after removing the badge (Sure looks cool) whereas coupes are not!
