Well I am a big fan of Focal speakers after I listened to them in an audio shop, however I am also a big fan of buying stuff over the internet and not pay retail price for it. Well Its kinda hard to find a place selling Focal's over the internet ( most of them are based outside US), JL is a little easier to find.
Would there be a huge difference in sound quality if I go with JL zr series instead of the focals? anybody have zr series installed on theri car yet?

focal here in los angeles. One is woofersetc.com, they are located
at 11th and central downtown los angeles. You can also go to the
store and pick it up, usually if you pay cash you don't pay tax.

Usually some ofthe stores give a lower price specially if your buying
it in cash. That's what i do i go to diff stores and ask about the
speakers and ask for a discount if you tell em your paying cash.

I personally like the focals over jl xr's but i havent heard of the new
zr models yet. Only brands i can say that's better than focals, DLS iridiums (in my Z), Seas Lotus, and some DIY my friend have. I have the 165v2
in my subaru. I switch to DLS iridiums for the Z and may try the Seas
Lotus in the subaru next.

Whats the diference between 165k and 165k2p? the rms watt handling?

 

If your talking about the 165kp vs. 165 k2p, the difference
between the two is the woofer. The k2p mids can handle
more power than the kp's. The kp has a power of 80/160 max
1 inche voic coil, & 3 1/3 magnet vs. 100/200 max., 1 9/16" voic coil
& 4 inch magnet for the k2p.
The KP has an acoustical transparent dust cap while the k2p
uses the aluminum phase plug.

I see.. I am gonna push em with jl 300/2, so they will get 150 watts @4ohms rms... which one is a better choice now? The specs dont mean anything to me ( except rms power handling) since I dont know what they mean....

How about utopias, they are more expensive but do they worth it?
