Default How To Run Wires from Dash to Pull Out Cupholder

Has anyone done this before? Any tips, guides, etc? I want to run the input for my ipod to that cupholder, but I don't know if that area is open behind it. There's not a lot of room in the dash to dig around so I thought I'd ask before I tried in case anyone has seen this done.

Thanks in advance.

Default me too

I guess nobody has any ideas for this because I would love to see some posts. I just got an iPod and wanted to run the wires to the iPod which is in the cup holder.

shove your head up under the dash there and peek around... or

get a coat hanger and poke it down in there until you can tape wires to the coat hanger

You can remove the cupholder by inserting a screwdriver down the middle and top of it. The screwdriver basically presses on a tab that allows you to pull the whole assembly out.

There are three phillips screws that you must remove. One is in the cup holder area, and one is in the cigarette lighter area. The last screw is near the door jam. After removing the screws, the whole plastic pannel is removable. You must yank on it to pop the spring loaded rivits.

Once you remove this panel, a whole world of opportunities will present itself.

I've tapped into the lighter wiring for both my satellite radio and Escort radar detector.

Default thanks

Thanks for the details guys. I will have to play around and see what I can find. My main problem is trying to get the factory deck (w/o cd changer) to hook up to my iPod.

No. Since it is the lower panel (knee level) that you are interested in removing.

I believe the air bag is under the top panel that the heating/cooling duct is in.
