Question Sub woofer enclosure

I am planning on getting a custom sub box, under the strut bar but coming out facing the rear with either 2 12" subs or 1 12" sub. I am either going to get a pair of regular eclipse 12's (approximately $150 each) or the 1 aluminum 12" eclipse(approximately $300 for one) (Higher quality)..! I'm kind of consider a pair of JL Audio 12W3 or one 12W6. I listen to bass heavy music, i.e. hip hop, reggae etc.... so what do you guys think or experienced? Money is an issue, because ideally I would love to go with a pair of the better subs, but then I also need a more expensive amp,.
For all you hip hop listener, tell me what setup "bumps in the trunk". To give you an idea of the systems I'm use to, my first car was a mini nissan trunk 1989, that had four 15 in kickers in a homemade box, it was ridiculous, but when your a teenager, that was "cool". My next ride was a 98 explorer sport with two 12 in fosgate punches and a big *** amp. Both system would set of car alarms on a regular basis......now I'm in a tiny little Z...so I'm not sure how much bass I should go with!!!!>????? How much is too much...!!! Please help...!!!!!!!!

2 ten's is all you need, believe me i love pounding bass also. in the the Z 2 twelves is overkill. tens sound tight. unless you want a really good back massage, then you should go with 12's.

That is a sick *** setup you got........now you are making reconsider my plans....!!!! Hmmmmm..... Really impressive system you got....and you have the yellow top optima....it fits okay??? I got the yellow top for my explorer and I could really tell a difference, everything sounded crispier...what do you think about the optima batteries...???? The key to getting the really low end bass is a decent size enclosure correct??? So maybe I should just put more money in the custom box and go for the 10's....would you mind PMing me with a detailed breakdown of you system with prices...if you don't mind of course...!

[QUOTE=UCLAzzz]what do you think about the optima batteries...???? [QUOTE]

I like the Optima battery. some people prefer stinger. I have not had a problem with the yellow top.

r.c.y.k: my box is about 2 cubic feet. 1 cubic foot per chamber.

I agree with Vantage, my two 10's are PLENTY loud enough. I also love to thump the bass on occasion. I listen to a lot of trance, techno, house, rap, etc. so NEED that nice bass feel.

I'm running 2 12" Diamond Audio subs with a 1500D Hifonics amp. I would have gone ported with this setup but space was limited. I'm also using a pair of Diamond Audio Hex 600a series comps in the front. Alot of people say they're bright but they fit my taste of music (rap& hip hop with occasional trance). In my opinion' I think my setup iwith the subs is overkill. It hits way to hard and clean even set on the lowest setting. But i'm way haappy and rattle free!!!
