I just had a system installed in my Z. I'm not sure I'm happy with it and for what I Paid I think it should sound alot better. I installed a new radio, highs, and amp. I will be installing the subs,box amp next week. Was limited on time. Well this is what I had installed and I will be posting the pics soon.

1. Kenwood double din 6.5 screen
2. Jl audio xr650-csi
3. jl audio xr525-cxi
4. jl audio 300/4

Are these jl's high end speakers? I got a nice deal on the screen but I think I paid to much for the speakers and amp. They did a nice install. Everything was layed out perfect but It just doesn't sound right.

Next week im installing 3 10 inch w1 in a custom fiberglass box with a jl audio amp. I'm not sure which one there using. Im all new to the system seen.So All your comments and suggestions will be helpful.

What amp should I use with those subs?

 

JL actually has another series of speakers that is above the XR series (ZR series). I have the CXI's, and to be honest, I am not impressed. Luckily, I only have them for rear fill. The CSI's leave alot to be desired. I think JL should stick to making subs and amps, and leave the speaker making for Focal, MB Quart, Diamond, etc.

No, they are not. Those are the speakers I was referring to. There are MANY MANY better speakers for the price that you pay for the JL's. I would stay away. Try something like CDT, Diamond, DLS, Image Dynamics.

 

im happy with Boston Accoustic SL60 on front door. Check them out also.

 

im a boston acoustics fan, i think they have a nice full sound. mb quarts are too high pitch for me. the focals are awesome SQ speakers. it all depends on what your looking for. i got pro60's in my truck and am gonna do the SL series in the Z.

I never heard those speakers, but im sure when you add the subs you will like the system a lot more. I have everything stock but just added subs and love my stock system

 

i use the XR series of coaxials and components in kick panel applioations a lot, and IMO, i think they are an excellent sounding spekaer if installed and tuned right.

a coupl years back i built a golf with xr 6.5" integated coaxials in the kicks, and it won quite a few regional sound quality compeititions in its class

Yeah I used a 3 way XR (fronts) and 2 way XR (rears) and 2 10w7s in an install. It was monsterous.
