Default Install From DownUnder

For those that were tracking my stereo install progress pics....

After 5 long weeks my stereo is now finally finished. It looks and sounds incredible, im very happy with how its turned out. The speakers and sub are still bedding in, but even now the sound is unbelievable, very sharp and way better than our home system. The 5.1 is the best feature of the install, the centre channel is so crisp and watching dvd music concerts is just on whole other level compared to stereo. In fact there are beats, guitar rifts, etc coming through the centre channel on some songs that when u switch to stereo, u cant hear them at all

Here's the list of components;

Clarion VRX935 DVD
Clarion TV Tuner
Clarion DTS/Dolby 5.1 Processor
Clarion centre channel
Custom Metra dash kit
MB Quart Q-Line front speakers running off a JBL 2x160rms amp
JBL GTi rear speakers running off a JBL 2x80rms amp
Alpine Type X 10" sub running off a JBL 2x300rms amp
UTR Led hatch and door sill covers
50sq ft of B-Quiet Ultimate
Audison RCAs
Monster Cable speaker cable
Custom leather armrests with orange stitching
Orange LEDs in sub box, amp rack and in footwells
Narva switch to turn LEDs on while driving mounted next to VDC button

The boot leds are wired to come on when u open the hatch, or via the switch. The footwell/door sill leds come on when u open that door. Bcoz of the way the Z's wired, if u open the drivers door, the passenger footwell doesnt come on, which i dont mind too much

Now onto the pics...... The night pics didnt come out too well unfortunately

Ive also got a 10.5mb video if anyone know where i can host it?

yeap those are the ones

i bought them from unlimited tuning

the sills were dead easy to fit, the rear hatch is a nightmare. They give u a flat hatch cover, but the stock strut cover is curved from both angles, so the supplied 3m tape hardly makes contact and it doesnt stay on. We tried everything to keep it down, its impossible to flush mount it on all sides. In the end we used a combination of hot glue to hold it down temporarily while the araldite dried. Its come up a couple mm since glueing, but hasnt budged anymore over the last week

So the middle section of each cover is clear plexi glass to let the 'Z' on the kick plates/RSTB plate show through? Not too clear from that site. If so, i don't see any wires in that area to light it up.

Your pictures are backwards mate!

You can have both footwell lights come on if you install a pair of diodes in a steering circuit. If you just tie to the two wires together when the passenger opens her door (nice chook) the reminder alarm goes off to remind you to remove the keys from the ignition.

Two diodes back-to-back in a "T" circuit will "steer" the ground to the lamps and prevent the ground from going back into the car's circuits and detecting the key left in the slot.

thanks for the feedback guys

a bit peeved the night pics are so crap, my camera cant take low light shots, the leds in the boot are brighter and more orange like the gauges, not red

paul i dont get the key in warning chime with the passenger door open, only the drivers door

thanks for the tip, ill print this out for him, i would prefer both footwells to come on with either door, and get rid of the chime

usman thats correct, there are leds on the sides to spread light across the plastic opening. But be warned, when u dry the car inside the doorsills after a wash, water from the chamois gets inside the clear plastic part. I use an air compressor to blow the water out (also use it to blow water out of shutlines or else i come home with all these dirt spots on the body)

i didnt do the install, but they looked easy enough

just a positive and negative wire that you'd tap into something that reads positive when the door is open, the map light i guess or the open door switch

Cool, I'm gonna order those and see if I can wire the strut bar LED's into my undercar kit switch and have them come on at night with the car doors open or shut.

yep thats how mine are wired

the rear hatch is wired into the boot light, so the whole install lights up when the hatch is opened. The sills are on the door switch, so come on when u open the door. Ive also got all the lights wired into a switch under the dash, next to the VDC, so i can put them on while driving. The hatch cover looks pretty hot at night light up
