Default OEM Alarm Add ons: Shock Sensor / Tilt Sensor, etc...

Hey guys. We are in the process of ordering a bunch of DEI shock sensor units for some folks over on Driver and we wanted to see how many people are interested in it or other OEM alram add-ons for the Z/G.

Explanation of some of the OEM alarm add-ons:

A shock sensor detects hard thumps

A tilt sensor detects you car being jacked up or towed

A resonance sensor is a sensor that can be mounted anywhere and picks up high pitched sound frequencies associated with metal...like slim jims or what not. Its a tiny sensor that will pick up the sound (wont pick up simple hand to glass or hand to metal sounds but rather the metal on metal or metal on glass frequencies). It does not cover the whole car. You can install one on the headlights and if the theif starts to mess with the headlights..it'll go off. You can stick it inside the door panel and it will pick up slim jims, the door handle being lifted and trying to be opened. You can stick it in the trunk if you have an expensive system, etc... But again...a single unit wont protect the whole car...just specific areas.

A proximity sensor is a sensor to detect movement inside the vehicle.

Here is a great DIY write-up by Florida G35 Clubs own Redwillow which explains the shock sensor:

We can get any and all forms of security equiptment for you guys. It just started as a shock sensor deal, but can get whatever you need to protect your car.

For Pricing...check out our official Group Buy thread in the Vendors Section:

I'll be happy to answer questions you guys may have...

Be careful what you wish for. %^)
DEI 795T is a TX/RX pager add-on.
Granted it's not the fancy 900 Mhz spread spectrum in the
State of the Art alarms, but the add-on costs hundreds less
and is a DIY install.

Has anybody checked to see if this would work for the Z? I see from the DIY that he tied the shock sensor into the hood switch. 2004 and later Zs don't have the hood switch and from what I recall, the one on the 2003 Z's didn't actually do anything.

Any ideas of where it would have to be wired in to work with the Z?

You listed Proximity Sensor in the description but I don't see it listed with a price in the referenced post from Vendor Group Buys.

How long is this being offered?

Thanks,
Dave

Ok....someone brought up an issue concerning the lack of a hood pin switch.

If you HAVE a hood pin switch, then you can buy the sensors listed...as they will work.

If you do NOT have a hood pin switch and have to go through another trigger (ie. door, trunk, etc), then you cannot buy the DEI Shock Sensorand must instead purchase a special shock sensor. This sensor made by Omega will use any of those other triggers. Once you have that shock unit, you can buy any other product (DEI, etc.) and it will tap into that unit, thus, compensating for your lack of a hood pin switch. So...its really switching from the DEI to Omega shock sensor. Everything else stays the same.

I've updated the vendor link with the proximity sensor price and the Omega sensor.

Boosted Concepts will be running this group buy, plus a Kinetix group buy and a KP Technology special until February 14th (which we will post shortly). But, we have already purchased many modules and they are ready to ship. The first batch of sensors went out yesterday.

Update...we just installed a few of these shock sensors on the trunk trigger this afternoon so even if you dont have the hood pin...you can do the trunk trigger. We'll have pictures and a writeup really soon.

So...please check out the original thread for all the information

So...you can still just do the less expensive DEI sensor!

UPDATE: Here are the pictures from this weekends install on a 2003 G35 Coupe. To avoid the heat generated from the engine bay, we installed it under the dash. We decided to use the trunk switch trigger b/c some folks didnt know if they had a hood pin switch or not (and, as said above, we wanted to avoid the heat of the engine bay on the sensor). So...check out that thread:

http://boostedconcepts.forumup.org/a...dconcepts.html

So, you do NOT need the omega sensor as stated above and can use the DEI shock sensor on the trunk trigger.

$21, shipped. (we have a few more units in stock ready to ship immediatley)
