Smile Bose fix...

Got my Bose fix put in today, opposed to a $1500 fix.

The sounds is 50x better, sooo much clearer.

Only thing lacking is the bass isn't as powerful as it once was.

I'm fine with it though.

Did you request to keep the old amp in case you decide to go back to the original setup? I personally have nothing against my bose system yet, and still have no clue what everyone is hating on it for. I have not found a cd yet that sounds bad in the factory system, if its a matter of a bad radio i would hope that people who can afford to buy this car, or any car for that matter, can aford to buy a few new cds once in a while.... There is this thing called the internet too, lots of p2p programs for downloading music and make your own cds for like 30 cents a disc for blank cd-r's... Ok done with the sarcasm. Glad your happy at least.

I will be getting my CS "Z" in Feb. I have a question on the bass. Is the bass with the "fix" weak overall, or just for certain kinds of music. I am not really into the booming Hiphop or Rap type music. Is the Bass Ok for say Alternative or Rock music?
I am also not into stealing music off the internet. Kinda like your boss not paying you for the work you do. I think most people like listening to the radio for variety. Does the radio suck that bad?

All I listen to are burned Cd's.

The system was fine aside from the spontaneous booming in and out.

My back just doesn't like the sudden poundings.

Also, isn't posting something about the internet existing to people with internet access to this board kinda....what's the word?

Edit - I find the bass is still there, just weaker.

Although I listen to Rock and Punk though, you could ask someone who listens to crap I suppose for big differences.

So would you describe the bass as "tight" as opposed to "flabby" or "Farty"? Like I said cRAP music doesn't interest me. I also don't care if the cool people two blocks down the road don't hear my system.

Thanks for the response(s). I am just trying to determine if the style music a person listens to detrmines whether or not the Bose system sucks or not. In other words what type of music are we "Z" freaks listening to? Or, is the Bose system just a hopeless case?

I listen to all types of music. Dance, techno, pop, rock, rap, you name it. Some types the bass is more heavy. Put the volume to 25, feels like someone is pounding your back

I listen to a lot of Jazz, Blues, Rock, and anything else that's got some soul to it. I think the Bose system just right out SUCKS! From Marsalis to Hendrix, there's just no depth to the sound. On the other hand, I DON'T own a 30k home system, but my brother does. So I can assure you, I do know what quality sound is like. And for myself, I have a Sony home system. Albeit not the best, it sure does sound better than my Blose. I truly hope Nissan will use more than a band-aid to fix this problem. Cheers. -m

Default I am not bandwaggoning here...

...but the Bose does suck. It is weak, has muddy lows, and the highs are not real crisp. The subwoofer is a huge disappointment. If you remove the factory speakers, you will notice that they are very cheap, and not well designed. You can improve the sound great by purchasing a nice set of coaxs for the fornt doors, or better yet, seperates...you may have to add external amplification for a good pair of seperates, and that is what I am doing. There is no hope for the 10" Bose freeair sub, as it just downright sucks. You will need an amp, a well-designed enclosure, and a new sub to fix that issue. The audio pilot problem is supposeldy fixed now, but I chose to remove the factory amp which kills any audio pilot issues. I will be installing a good 4 channel amp (Phoenix Gold) for front stage and rear surrounds, plus a clean and powerful sub amp (Phoenix Gold). I am also upgrading all of the speakers--JL Audio XR series seperates in front, JL VR series coaxs in back, and a JL10W6 sub in a selaed custom enclosure in the factory sub location. I chose to add an Audio Control EQX-II equalizer for control. I am keeping the factory HU and hoping that I don't have to change it out as well. I will be dynamatting this weekend, and sealing the sub location and building a box for the 10w6. I have already run the power lead. I am in the process of getting everything else together to finish the job. I am doing all of hte work myself, so it will take some time for me to finish, but I am hoping no more than 1-2 weeks total (weekends and evening is all I have time for, but its cold in the garage).

I will post some pics when its finished, and feel free to pm me for upgrade advice...

I've always been a fan of the bose post-fix.

The'res plenty of bass - however, if your source has nop bass - so will the sound.

So classic rock sounds pretty good, but when you drop in a hip hop cd I swear you'll do a doublt take - as the bass response will really surprise you.

All the bose-haters will complain that the bass/treb controls do "nothing" post fix.

In actuality - they do - however, if you're at a high volume and the bass is + 5 it wont allow the amp to clip = hence the bass ratio will be unchanged. If you TURN THAT CRAP DOWN!! (hehe) to say 10-20, the diff the tune controls make is READILY apparent.

Additionally, the audipilot is really only noticable in the 0-15 range. Over that and the music generally drowns out road/cabin noise anyhow -and thus there's no more fluctuations.

I think the bose is great. I never understood all the bitchin here - but hey, If you wanna throw $6K into your car, the bose would never satisfy anyhow.

Glad that you are happy.
