Default Good News For Bose Z Folks

I just got off the phone with Veronica at Nissan Customer Service HQ. She assured me that Nissan and Bose were working together to solve the generally poor quality sound in the Bose system.

I really think she was just fudging to get off the phone, but it would be nice if the 2004 got a sound makeover and we got to take advantage of that improvement too. wishin' and hopin'....

Remember- take it with a grain of salt. She may be a 6 buck an hour person who just did not want to deal with me.

My neighbor works for Nissan and is paid far more than $6 an hour... they also hear that things are being worked on.

/me crosses various appendages.

Seems several have heard this lately. Maybe it will be true. I don't have to have a high end stereo, just a good one with decent imaging and tight bass.

If they don't do something, though, I'll probably have to do something. This system makes me nuts.

I hope you're right...this car deserves a better sound system than the one we got.

Let's hope so... I can't coax any bass out of this system at all. Op:Mindcrime sounds so tinny it hurts, and there's no thump at all to Tool. Maybe I should call NNA to at least register another voice in the complaint department. I've been consoling myself by turning off the stereo and simply listening to the motor / exhaust. At least Nissan got the important things right! (grin)

I am tossing around the idea of replacing speakers and amps. Should I hold off? Any word on them replacing the Bose crap for free? I got the "fix"/new amp, but the bass and mids still suck. If they do a major overhaul, can can wait for it.

scottc,

I would not hold off on making upgrades. I don't really think they are actually working on a fix because it does work (in a poor way).

I am planning on upgrading my system. here is the equipment I have landed on. This is from info here and listening myself.

Stock HU
JL 500-5 I aint got no idea where I am puttin that monster.
Boston pro front components
Boston coaxial rears
Dual 8" JL subs in custom box under strut bar. 8w3v2d2 wired for 2 ohms total.

I am still trying to get useful info on HU output. Thats is only thing I am waiting for now.

That sounds like something I would do. I want the stock HU for the look and the 6 disk in dash. Thanks for the info.
