You can't put just a DVD Driver, you need a micronprocessor (CPU, LAPTOP, PC, etc) to control this drive. You could do a mod like several members and hide a Laptop and use the DVD drive, then just drive the Video output to you in-dash LCD screen.
But you can't use the DVD unit by itself.
do a quick search in the forum and you will find several options (proved to work) for DVD playback in your Z.
Good luck!

That's a "mobile" DVD player, totally diferent from a Computer DVD drive. That could be use with an Inverter, This will give you regular 120V @60Mhz AC Power, for your car battery. You should find it at walmart where you got your stand along DVD player.

Des, You could install an Inverter to power your DVD unit. The Inverter take the +-12V of the battery and output 120V @ 60Mhz which is very similar to your AC power at home. The power (Watts) will depend in how many devices you will want to connect.
200 Watts (For 1 device, let's say the dvd player) $24

800 Watts, (For 2 or 3 Max Devices, Let's say your DVD player and Video Game console & a laptop) $57

Note: this Inverter usually get reallly hot, please plan carefully where to installe it to avoid any accident.
