Default What currently available Sirius tuners fit in the cubby?

I was hoping to find one with amber backlighting but the only one I know of is the old audiovox model. I only saw a few at bestbuy and it was tough to tell if either would fit. One seemed too wide and the other seemed too tall.

I'd suggest the Sportster Replay. It is one of the only models of Sirius receivers that is still made. Most of the Sirius units come and go fairly quickly while this one has been around for a while. It should fit in the cubby with no probs. Unfortunately it does not have amber lighting like you wanted.

I have a Sirius radio in the cubby and it fits perfectly w/ the amber lighting. I will check tomorrow on the model and take a pic for you to see how it looks. At night it is cool as hell with the the other amber lighting in the car.

Here are some pics of the radio. I believe it's the Sportster made by Audiovox. I do know Best Buy here in Dayton stopped carrying them.

did you use a hard wiring kit for the sirius radio or run it off of the cigarette lighter?

deezz, that is the one I was looking for. I think it has been discontinued. Maybe I can find one used on ebay. I really don't want a blue display and the xact's display is too small. I don't like reading scrolling text while I'm driving.

Maybe something new will come out soon.

It's hard wired. w/ the antenna mounted on the front of the dash near the windshield.

Deezz, is it easy to get it in and out of the base?

From the pics it looks like you cut off the lower part of the base. What holds the base in place? Velcro?

Since the base is the power supply for the unit, the shop had to cut a small hole in the bottom of the cubby and put the cradle in like that. There is not enough clearance to pull the the radio out of the cradle. It is basically permanantly attached to the car. Wish it could come out cause I had to buy a seperate Siruis radio for the house.

i have the audiovox one. i got it pretty cheap bc its old but it matches the interior lighting. The shop i had hard wire it positioned the cradle on the small incline. Theres enough room to take it out and bring it in the house and enough room to close the cubby. I just ordered some black carbon fiber vinyl to wrap inside and around the cubby area which i think will look cleaner then the black cloth they covered it with

I have the Sportster kit but it didn't fit, so I removed stock cubby hole and did this.

I hard wired it in also.

I also purchased the PAC adapter to add an AUX to the Bose system for improved sound quality over the digital tuner. They have a sportster in the same amber color but i got the audiovox one bc i didnt like the text display of the sportster. but i am able to change the font on my audiovox one so im sure the sportster has the same feature. I also had the antenna installed between windshield and the dash so there would be no antenna stuck on the outside of the car. Overall i am happy with it.

Starmate Replay Install:

I got it as a gift awhile ago and love it! I do wish though that it had an amber display like the Audiovox.

Good install by your shop to let you be able to take it in and out.

I just picked up the Starmate Replay. I really wanted amber backlighting but I wanted a unit that I could easily remove. I only drive the Z on nice days. I want to be able to use Sirius in my truck without paying additional subscription fees for another reciever. So I had to settle for the blue backlighting. Ohh well.

I mounted it in the bottom of the cubby. That way I can mount the secondary display for my Valentine 1 above it. There is just enough room for both to fit. I will try to post some pics once I get it finished.
