I bought an extension wire to run the antenna wire to the glove box. I have VERY VERY little reception now. Long story short, my kenwood touchscreen has the unit back there and that is why it must plug in accordingly.
Has anyone extended their antenna wires? Does yours work well??

I guess there shouldn't be a problem with where you connected from/to.
All of the Nissan rear antennas have a small signal amplifier below the antenna within the trunk enclosure and behind the felt trim panel in the corner (where everyone's putting their fiberglass sub enclosures).
I don't have my FSM with me, but I know I had problems with signal when installing a custom DVD system for another person because I forgot about the amplifier.
Just keep that in mind as you go forward with your work. At this point, I couldn't tell you anything else.

I used an antenna extender when I mounted the hideaway box for my Clarion VRX935VD unit under the seat. I have no reception problems.
Check the cable, it may be pinched, or defective...

I've had trouble with radio reception since I replaced the head unit with an Alpine 7995. After reading the thread from Z33fan I wonder if there is some way the antenna amplifier can be damaged or disconnected.
I tried adding an anntena amplifier at the head unit and it only made additional noise, even on stations that I could get.
I'd check the power to the amplifier in the rear.
I hope someone has an answer.

I tink I may be able to help.
If I recall, there is a wire in the main harness that must be connected to the antenna trigger wire on an aftermarket head unit. If you use a Metra Harness, it has the proper color wire to connect the antenna trigger wire from the head unit ( I can't recall the wire color off hand). If you don't connect this wire, the antenna amp will not turn on, therefore, bad reception.

Ah ha! That must be it. So I have to rip apart the dash agagin to get to that wire huh? Then I need to run it back to the unit in the cubby hole and run it to switched 12v?
Can you help on how to get to the antennae connector behing the head unit so I can connect my XM radio FM modulater? I have an automatic transmission and can't figure out how to get the dash off. Would you know if I can connect it to the antennae at the back instead of the dash?
