Bose 6CD skipping...
I just bought my Z last week, a used 2004. Its a touring with the Bose system.
So anyways, it likes to skip CD's sometimes. I've been trying different scenarios and it seems to either have something to do with how many CD's are in the player, or the temperature. At first I thought it was # of CD's, weighing the unit down or something, so I started just putting 1 in at a time. But I've noticed it happens for more frequently at night.......when its colder outside. But I live in AZ, its not THAT cold. Is this the reason for it.
Also...its a 2004 and has 33k miles. So its barely still under warranty...would a replacement Bose headunit be covered? Or would they even do that?
Also x2...I know most will say just get a good aftermarket one, which is what I've done in the past. But this is a Z! And I want the interior to look smooth and nice, not some little rectangle sitting in the middle of masses of plastic.

This post is funny cause mine is doing the exact same thing and i just bought my 04 a week ago. We're definitely in the same boat. I've chosen to put the pioneer z1 in instead and just don't even bother with the bose. I'm an audiophile and its just not cutting it for me. But if you figure out an answer for the time being please inform me.
It is a problem that started with the 2003 Z's. You are experiencing "skips" now that will eventually turn to CD's not "ejecting"! Three unitsreplaced under warranty until I bit the bullet and replaced unit with an Eclipse.
a cd cleaner definetly helps... but mine has been skipping too.. more frequency now that it's colder... i think it's just the lame cd player... getting it replaced will most likely yeild the same end-result. just get a diff cd-player if you're that concerned.
md350: I have noticed this too with my 2005 bose unit. I have tried using a lens cleaner but it doesn't read the disc. I have recently added on the PAC-NIS2 module as well as a Sirius s50 which acts as a mp3 player and satellite radio. I find that I don't even use the CD player anymore and kept the stock look. Hope this helps.

Will be happy to part with this unit and the other stock audio stuff - just as soon as I get word on Kenwood's new line up - PM me and keep in contact. Will practically be giving it away!

It's not a big deal, mine does the same thing. Just switch to CD put volume on low and after about 25-30 min of driving the skipping goes away.
I take my z to the dealer for oil changes and it NEVER replicates the skipping for them! WTF! And it's true, I'll be like whatever buddy and turn the cd player on and sure enough, no skipping. Then on the way home after condensation or whatever the h@ll is plaguing my bose kicks in I find myself listening to nothing but skipping as i road rage all the way home.

I used an alpine, but I've taken that out since I'm going to put the car up for sale... So I've been stuck with my 03' bose for a couple of weeks.
I found that it likes to play burned CD's. I can put in a brand new CD and it will skip, if I burn a copy of it, or burn mp3 to cd it will play them just fine without skipping
Also if it ever decides to not eject them who cares

The cold weather is the key. I live in AZ too. After 1 year of having my '03 it started skipping when it was cold, and the dealer replaced it. I replaced it with a Clarion a little while later. There is no excuse for a CD player to stop working when it gets cold. Bose just sucks. Your speakers are made in Mexico. Your sub looks like a frisbee. Bose is like Budweiser. They have to resort to commercials to hype up their lousy product.
