Default Plz help can't find a speaker that will fit!

I am trying to replace the stock bose subwoofer behind the driver seat in my 06 Z. When I took the bose sub out it seemed to be much stubbier than I imagined, and the sub that I purchesed to replace it (the JL 10w7) was too large and hit the body of the car on the bottom part inside the stock sub box. I really do not want to put a sub in the "trunk", so Im asking anyone who knows of a decent subwoofer that will fit in the stock box with no problems? Please Help!

this is actually a good question. i have an 06 touring and if there is a sub that will fit in the stock box then i just might consider it as long as it will work just fine wit the stock bose head unit.

Holy crap, dude, you ned to do some research and know what you're doing (not to mention post in the correct section) before dropping coin on something like a W7 series sub.

You NEED a box for that sub; there's no way around it (this, asside from the fact that that sub is MAJOR overkill if just putting it with the stock bose system. I hope to God you're not trying to just plug it in, either; you need a serious amp to drive that thing). Only way you can do a "drop-in" replacement for the bose sub is to get a true free-air sub and it still won't sound as good as a sub in a proper enclosure. Some people have tried converting that compartment INTO a sealed enclosure, but the labor to do so is cost prohibitive compared to an under-strut box. Do it right or don't do it at all. Hit the A/V section and start reading up/looking at what others have done.

If you want to install another sub in the stock sub location you can check the folloing site:

http://www.wickedcas.com/gallery/mai...boxes/350zmbx/

You will see a custom fiberglass enclosure designed to fit in the stock sub location. They can also advise you on a good sub to use. Just my 22c

Bose blows.

The Bose amplifier isn't going to put out enough power to drive your JL subwoofer.

Also that subwoofer is designed to work inside a sealed or vented box. The trapped volume of air becomes a part of the system and acts as a spring that controls the woofer.

And no as an answer: "that sub is MAJOR overkill if just putting it with the stock bose system. I hope to God you're not trying to just plug it in" Im putting in infinity kappa perfects all around to compliment the JL. Thanks again.

You may want to find out the dimensions and depth of the box before you purchase it.

Bad link. Which box are you looking at?

Good to know you're upgrading the rest of the speakers as well, but it was the amps I was most concerned about; you'll need new ones.

i have a premier2504 10" sub in the stock subwoofer location and it works great. of course i had to make a spacer out of mdf then made a fiberglass piece in place of the original panel with another spacer on that. the magnet on the sub is huge so it takes away alot of air space and i had to put this cotton material inside the space to make it sound better.
