Well i just came home with my new Z and i love it, first to second gear is a lil shaky but i should get used to it,but whats with the radio? its staticky, anyone else have this problam?, mine is an 03

 

I suggest driving the car off of a cliff. Or you could just replace the stereo.

 

if you have a shorty antenna that is your problem

 

I have the stock antenna and reception is fine.

 

It must have a short one because it like 3 feet tall, did any Z's come with the short one?

 

The stock radio in my '03 was horrible (poor reception ...lots of static). I replaced it immediately with a Clarion (and some other components). --Spike

 

yea my stock radio in my 03 sucked but when i put in an aftermarket headunit it sucked even more... i have no idea why....

 

If i replace the stock radio, do they have a dash kit to fill in the empty space? any pics of this?

yeah they do, order off crutchfield they give you everything you need. I don't have pics of mine but it basically gives you a small cubby under the new HU, enough to fit 3 cds stacked on their side or so.

 

most likely they didn't attach the power antenna wire. You need to attach it when using an aftermarket HU or signal will suck.
Plenty of pics of dash kits installed. Metra works well. Don't buy Scosche

 

What do you mean about the power antenna wire? Does it have amp on it or something? Cause i did notice a differance. This one station never cut out and now it does.

 

of all the cars that i spent money for new, this 06 350z stock radio leaves a whole lot to be desired. i put on lambo doors and was about to replace the door speakers, i laughed out loud so hard, to find the speaker magnet to be only like an inch big. i have a shorty antenna but reception is ok. its just the quality of the sound system to start with. It certainly matters what you are accustomed to begin with. But I have struggled to save for a nice system and the stock one is outta here!! its sitting on my work bench table. Buy a quality aftermarket head unit. Frankly the only HU I will leave alone is in my bimmer. i am putting in an aftermarket as i am working on a system on my own. Good luck.
and a note for the aftermarket dash kits, the kits for the 2003-2005 are different than for the 2006 model. make sure you receive the right one.
